Michigan boards are saying it's him. Of course, probably just speculation at this point, but interesting if true.

What a ridiculous hire if so. The Michigan job needs someone "bigger" than that.

A guy from Fox News Detroit who broke the firing story was just on ESPN and says it won't be Harbaugh (NFL) and Michigan won't be able to pony up the money for Miles/his buyout at LSU, and that it is Brady Hoke.

Didn't Hoke just get a contract extension?

If Michigan wanted Miles and he wanted to go, I am sure that LSU would release him from his contract. The buyout argument is ridiculous. This is big boy football and LSU isn't using a buyout to keep Miles from going back to his alma mater. No way.

God I hope so and it makes sence. I don't think Michigan would have pulled the trigger on Rich Rod without having a coach already lined up.

we should take deferred payments. 20 years or so to pay off the buyout. seems fair..

It's only like $1 million for UM, right? It's not like UM has to come with 4+ or anything

I thought it was the other way around, the only buyout IS for UM.

I remember reading somewhere that Miles has a "personal buyout" in his contract if he left for Michigan.... not sure what that means

One of the biggest schools in the country with one of the biggest stadiums in the country can't come up with the buyout Les has? At $10 a seat they pretty much have the buyout. They can come up with a better excuse than that.

Just illustrating the fact that this guy's resume is nothing compared to Les Miles or RR

I don't think it's that they can't afford the buyout, it's that the buyout makes it more attractive to look for someone that won't cost 5+ mil right off the bat.

Agreed. Miles showed class in passing in 2007 so as to not sabotage a team with still possible MNC dreams, and LSU could mow return the favor, so to speak.

Besides, if LSU scuttled this chance for Leslie in such a manner, can you say "disgruntled employee"?

Smoke screen IMO. Miles season isn't over, so they are filling time. It may be Hoke but they will feel out Miles too.

Detroit News saying Hoke would easily accept the offer if asked, and SDSU acknowledges it (though we pretty much knew that).
