10-20. Watching the game and just thinking, I'm always VERY anti-RB early in the draft, but he and Ivory for the next 3 years (at least) would be awesome. We can't neglect our front 7 any longer, though.

if he's available, we'd have to take him IMO.

I doubt he'd be available. I like OU's back as well but he has had injury issues

Maybe if we aren't that high on any WILLs, DL or OTs. Murray is good, but he's not the talent that Ingram is. Maybe someone we could look at late in the 3rd or 4th while we work on other areas early.

He'd be great to get, but we need some help at linebacker and d-line bad. getting patrick peterson would be incredible...but that's not happening.

We need DE, DT, OLB, OT

I'd be pretty bummed if we took someone other than these positions. There are 0 guarantees that ingram will be better than Ivory (who has all the makings of a feature back). Remember the guy hasn't played a ton of football.

There's no guarantee that whatever player we pick will be worth a shite. Ivory can't stay healthy, and we could very well go into next season with 1 RB under contract if Bush refuses to redo his. Again, we obviously need front 7 help, but if they don't think any available defensive player is worth a 1st round pick, why not? Look at how well Graham is turning out for us.

While Ingram is a very good back, I don't see the Saints drafting him. His style of running is very similar to Chris Ivory. There is a possibly that both Thomas & Bush won't be back next year, so drafting a back isn't out of the question.

Payton is all about versatility. He wants players especially at TE & RB that can do it all. Murray from OU has size, speed, quickness & great hands. Payton could use him multiple ways & I could see the Saints having him high on their draft board. Yes, he has had a tendency to get banged up but Adrian Peterson had the same issues coming out of OU but he's been fairly durable so far with the Vikings.

I don't see them drafting a DT in the first round either. Its hit or miss taking a DT that high & even the good ones take 3-4 years to develop unless your name is Ndamukong Suh. They may go the trade route or free agency route to pick up a solid DT to play next to Sedrick Ellis.

I could see them going for an OLB early also. Remember Jonathon Casillas was going to be a starter until he hurt his foot in preseason. With Vilma in the middle & Casillas on one side, they may want to draft another athletic LB to go on the other side. That could turn a weakness on the defense into strength of the defense.

i thought that was true for a while to but they are as different as wrs. you have to have a back that fits your offense.

Guarantees? Of course not.

But, if you had to bet your house, you'd be crazy to put it on Ivory.

Ivory runs too high, can't stay healthy, and fumbles the ball.

Give me Ingram every day of the week.

yeah but we have ivory for next to nothing...we'd have to spend a 1st rounder on Ingram... for the marginal difference I'll take Ivory all day

exactly

Murray had like 70 catches and could be a replacement for Pierre and/or Reggie. I have no clue what his draft stock is, I definitely wouldn't spend a first on him.

i dont think Ingram is really like Ivory, besides body type. Ingram is more patient, less violent, better balanced runner.

And he is strong in the screen game.

I think he is more like Pierre than Ivory, who is a hard, violent runner, that will have trouble staying healthy over a full 16.

So far the early projections have Murray as a late 1st, early 2nd round pick. The Saints will be drafting late first round, so its a possibility.

As a late 1st round pick, Murray won't get the type of contract that a early 1st rounder would, so the Saints wouldn't have to over spend to draft him.

If there is a rookie salary cap in the new CBA, Murray could end up being a real steal as a late 1st rounder.
