I completely changed, for the better, in college. I started college partying, not going to class, and being stupid. I was totally self-focused and even kind of cruel to people in relationships. I just didn't care. I somehow maintained a 3.0 to keep my scholarship (barely), but it was close.

Half way through my sophomore year, I had an awakening, gave my life to Christ, quit doing a lot of the stupid stuff I was doing, got up off the couch and went to class. I pulled my grades up, got serious about school, started caring about other people, and worked hard on trying to be a decent person, recognizing what a jerk I had been.

I've made lots of mistakes since then, no doubt, but my whole point is that I was a totally different person from my Freshman to my Junior year of college. The same thing happened to a lot of friends of mine as well. It's called growing up.

I hate that Mettenberger did what he did. But, anyone who is not willing to give the kid a second chance and is going to hold it against him, especially if he is showing signs of change, has never gone through any kind of change or awakening themselves. I need God's grace everyday, but I do know that change is possible.

Probably most people on this board if they have finished school, can recognize that they changed during college and learned some hard lessons about life that hopefully made them a better person.

People need to give the kid a break.
