A heads up for anyone thinking of switching...

I've had uverse for about a year and have had constant problems.....I've finally had enough and am having COX come this week.

In the year I've had it:

-I've had to have a technician come out about 10 times

-I've had to turn the box off and reset it about 100.

-Twice I've had to wait the 4 hour window for a technician and they didn't come....at all

-The price has jumped up a ton after 6 months..

-I had to completely not use one tv in my house because it would mess up every other one...

-When the technicians didn't show I tried to call and complain or at least get some sort of credit for sitting for 4 hours waiting on them and got nothing.

-When I returned the boxes the lady at the UPS store told me that they get tons of people each day sending them back because of all the problems.

I have a friend who has it and his has been fine but it has been a nightmare for me.

I have had a great experience. Customer Service has been helpful the couple times I called. Only had a technician come out once... to install. I did reset my box one time, I don't remember the reason. I have paid the same bill every month.

I have a friend with it and his is fine but I know a few people with the same issues I have. I apparently signed up during a promotional period and the rate went up after 6 months but no one told me that....they told me that amount would be my monthly bill.

me too. We've had it for almost 2 years now and I have zero complaints. In that same time I had similar complaints about Cox as the OP. I'd recommend UVerse to anyone. But I guess we all have our good and bad experiences with these cable companies.

Apparently, one of the knocks against uverse was that if you tried to watch tv and get on the internet at the same time, one of the two wouldn't work as well. Time warner warned me against this when I called to cancel my cable. This has never been an issue for me.

To me the switch was worth it just for the customer service. Time Warner customer service is wretched and shameful and they don't give a rats arse.

Cox is the same way. They need competition badly.

I lived with my parents, who have Uverse, for two weeks recently. You have to pay extra for HD channels, which isn't the case Cox or the satellite providers. The 4 tuners is nice, but if enough people are watching/recording in the house, you can't watch TV at all on another box. Internet was constantly dropping out and television was frequently lagging/pausing. And though it's not really their fault, it sucks having to re-learn the channels and not getting Hornets games.

Someone told me that this had to be a problem due to bandwith, but I have been recording 2 HD shows, watching another, and did a speedtest on my internet that was at 5.8 when I pay for 6 MB.

I heart Uverse.

This exact thing has happened to me with comcast and COX. and all the satelites out there. Uverse has to be the best thing ever since sliced bread. but thats just me.

yep me too. We'll be recording 2 or 3 HD channels at the same time, watching 2 TV's and logged in on the internet and nothing. Now we have had this happen one time where my cousin was watching TV in the guest room and she said the TV wouldn't work. We went in there and just pressed "interupt another TV" and it came back on, and no TV's got interrupted that I'm aware of.

If you pay $50 + $10 for HD that's still less than paying $90 for cable with HD included.

I have Cox and will be switching to UVerse shortly. I'll save about $30 a month in cable alone and get more channels.

pretty much any "addition" Uverse has, you'll still come out way ahead of Cox. Even if you have all the movie channels and highest speed internet.

i think what a lot of you are forgetting is that AT&T U-verse is DSL. DSL quality varies on how close you are to the fiber line or a communincations center.

lucky for me a fiber line runs outside of my apartment, so my 12mb connection is stupid fast.

I hate it and I miss Dish. Directv is as slow as dial up Internet when you are trying to flip through the channels on the guide

I’ve been satisfied with DISH Network for my TV service and I even did research to make sure that I wasn’t paying too much. In my research the best and most informative site I found was BestTvForMe.com because it does a complete side-by-side comparison of major TV providers. It’s interesting to see which company is better and worse in different categories like channel selection, fees and customer service. It helped me to decide to stick with my employee account a get through DISH.
