He makes mostly shitty movies and he's a very average comedian (decent storyteller but lacking in actual punchlines), but the Dane Cook backlash has been completely overblown.
His first two CDs were genuinely pretty funny and he had one of the better early Comedy Central Presents...
He's just one of those comics it's cool to hate even though I bet most people haven't even watched his standup in nearly 3-4 years.
He's nowhere near as bad as guys like Carlos Mencia or Larry the Cable Guy.

Cook and Dunham being the stand-up comedians at the top of the payscale is scary. i guess the good ones move on to acting.
