Pulling for Jarrett Lee to Succeed

I don't think I have ever pulled for a kid to succeed more than Jarrett Lee.
Everyone knows the 2008 story: He was thrown into the fire when he wasn't ready to play. He admits this on his own accord. He threw all the pick sixes and was booed off the field. yadi yadi yadi..... The offense was still pretty good that year might I add.
2009 story: He carries a clipboard all year as he watched the offense put some of the worst numbers we have seen in a while. However, he did't take advantage of his opportunity when he started a game for injured JJ. People said he should transfer because he was terrible and would never play here again. yadi yadi yadi.....
2010 story: The kid doesn't transfer. He works harder than he ever has in is life in the off-season. He loses some weight. He throws the ball with any receiver he can get to play catch with him. He studies film. He did in the off-season what most fans would hope every player on the team would do. Go beyond what is asked of you to make yourself better. He starts the season behind JJ, who I never thought was any good. You can look at previous post I have made about him. JJ plays worse than any QB I have ever seen play at LSU since I've been alive. Jarrett Lee finally gets his chance in the Tennessee game and leads us to the crazy win. He is the only reason we beat Florida(5 drives=4TDs). The offense looks way better when he plays, yet Miles still plays and starts JJ. I just don't get it!
The point of this whole rant I just went on is to say: after all this shite he has been through; from the fans casting him off, being told he wasn't good enough, and his coach obviously having little faith in him because he still won't let him start. He stuck around and is playing pretty good football if you ask me. I have the utmost respect for this kid's desire and character and I find myself pulling for this kid to succeed more than any athlete I have ever rooted for in my life.
Here is to you Jarrett Lee because we wouldn't be undefeated without you.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Couldn't agree with you more.
Sadfully, I think it will take JJ losing a game for Les to sit him!! Sad but true!!
Words cannot describe how frustrating this makes me feel.

I don't think there is anyone not pulling for him. If his playing ended today because of an injury I think he did himself well.

I love the JL story, but I'll pull for the QB that gets things rolling. It looks like that's JL, but I'm pulling for JJ too!

Okay. I'm getting my photoshop stuff together and getting back in practice. If we can go 12 & 0 regular season I wanna do a photo of Lee's Jersey with the 12 in the win column next to an empty loss column. The young man has redeemed, and continues to redeem himself. What a way to make a come back fom a red-shirt freshman year when he wasn't prepared to be thrown to the wolves.
"So here's to you, Jarret Lee, a real American Hero. . ." --My own Bud Lite commercial. (Hell, I have a recording studio in the basement. . . I think I'll mess around with that one a little bit too.)

You can't help but pull for the guy. He has shown a ton of character throughout this whole process. You find out what kind of person someone truly is when they are faced with adversity. Lord knows that this guy has dealt with more adversity than most and handled it better than most. The easiest thing to do would have been to quit or transfer but this guy gutted it out and is reaping the rewards now. I for one hope that this season ends with a storybook ending for this guy. He definitely deserves it.

Glad to see a post like this. I hope JL knows how highly regarded he is by our fanbase.

Thanks, though I'm a pure amateur at this compared with the masters on the Fark Board.

I agree 100%. Like most, I was frustrated with JLee's play in 2008. Not all of the interceptions or pick-6s were his fault, but there is no denying how poor his decision-making was.
I never boo LSU players or coaches. So, I can't say I participated in that, but I definitely wanted him benched to get his mind right.
I say all that because, like you, I am rooting hard for JLee's success. I have been hoping for his redemption since 2008. I have a lot of respect for Lee. He never made excuses in 2008. He owned up to his mistakes, even if it wasn't entirely his fault. THe guy is just a class act.
My hat is off to Lee for going through something most of us would run away from. The guy deserves all the glory that is coming to him. I hope Les doesn't screw this opportunity up.

Looks like there are a couple of folks that like it enough to make it a sig' pic.
Congrats on a job well done and successful.

I adjusted it a little to make it more sig-friendly in case anyone want to use it

Nice Psych.
I always felt that if JLee had a running attack that his season would have been different. Also, he had to outscore our opponents because the D was sub par.
It's taken a while for him to recover. But from the lows of being booed, to the high of cheers, he looks like he's lovin every minute of it, and cherishes the chance for redemption. I'm pulling for a story book season for him and the Tigers. If not, he still has my respect and admiration.

This (and the above post). I just don't know why so many LSU fans almost want a QB controversy. We have won every game, we should be happy. Not that I'm accusing
The OP of this but it seems that a lot of fans will be happier if a player loses a game rather than help us win. In other words we are much more inclined to point out negatives than positives. We are 7-0 with a chance to show how good we are in the second half of the season.
Call me crazy (but leave it at that) but I think both QB's have had meaningful contributions and am rooting for both of them to do well. We also have both of them for the next 2 seasons so we might as well just support both.
