In Fl. game, strange call. It looked like the qb went down in the end zone.

No, it was clear in the replay that he was hit at like the 1 yard line and ended up in the end zone.

Yeah but he got inside the one. It doesn't matter where he goes down.

I think the incidental facemask in the endzone was closer to being a safety. Nevis's pinky graces the chinstrap = 15 yard penalty.

It's where the BALL is when they tackle him

And they're always going to give them forward progress unless he's running backwards. It was the correct call. Close to a safety but not quite.

The call did not really hurt LSU as we go the ball back after a short punt.

Well if his forward progress was stopped then so was the TE on the touchdown run

it was as close as a safety as you can get, I still think it should have been called (ive seen less close calls be ruled a safety)

I sure the hell does matter...with those two points plus the extra point (instead of the missed two point attempt) our margin at the end when UF is driving is 8 points instead of 5.

Plus, the free kick with the return on instead of a punt.

It looked to me like he was standing on the 1 yd line and he was tackled in the end zone. You don't get forward progress if you're not progessing forward.

I still have never seen a replay since watching it live on t.v., but I remember thinking that it was probably a safety at the time.

Remember, just having the nose of the ball poke past the plane of the end zone is not enough. To avoid the safety, the whole ball would have had to have been past the stripe when the QB was hit.

Horrible luck. If that play stands(either the safety or the fumble brought out to the one)LSU might just have blown the doors off early as dominant as the Tigers' line play was throughout.
Nevis is playing at an elite level amongst D.T.'s no doubt.

yes you do, it's wear you are hit, in your case, why not pick up a QB who is standing in the pocket at the 50 and carry him to the end zone, he wasn't moving forward so no forward progress (according to your awesome logic), so just pick him up and carry him 50 yards for the safety, people like this and all the idiots on the fake FG (knee was down bs) are starting to wear me out.

If we get the safety on that play, we probably don't win the game, if you think about it...

First of all, it "where" and not "wear."

Second, the QB was standing still and not running forward, therefore, the spot of the dead ball is where the ball is located when his knee, or arse, or head was driven into the Florida soil by 550 pounds of bad arse. That spot was in the endzone, therefore, safety.
