Objective Miles question- think before flaming!

Ok, these are FACTS and not positive spin:
Les Miles is the head coach at LSU. He has won, and has a BCS title. While there are a couple other coaches in conference that have done the same, overall not many other coaches can claim to equal his accomplishments.
He still has on his staff one of the 2 coordinators from that BCS title team, Crowton.
Objectively speaking, Miles is becoming one of the most vilified men in Louisiana, and the reasons stem from the offense. How much longer can he wait before making a decisive, public change in the offensive coaching staff- maybe not fire Crowton in-season, but relieve him of most of his responsibilities? Is it too late, or not?
I ask the negatiger group- if Les states that changes have to be made and Crowton is no longer in charge of the offense, Lee is the starter, and we see a more normal (pro style) scheme, is that enough?
For the positiger group- does the record and 07's accomplishment trump the sloppiness on the field/sidelines we've seen the past 4 games? I ask this from a "boss" point of view, in that do you let the staff continue to go on unchanged as long as the wins keep coming?

The problem is that I am no longer convinced that Crowton is the problem.
Miles is the HEAD coach. He should be acutely aware of the situation and make sure either he or the OC have the proper sequence of plays and personnel called in that situation.
As the head coach it is HIS responsibilty and no on elses.

I don't know if it's time to fire Miles, but Crowton should have his bags packed....from posts I've seen about his history, we are seeing his norm and things will continue to deteriorate...

The only thing that puzzles me right now is why Lee is not the starting QB. Miles can make that call and it seems as if he refuses to do it. I swear I think the guy has something personal against the kid.

COME ON MAN!!
Miles enjoys a want to improve at clock management, but lacks the horsepower upstairs. GTFO with that. Stay tuned as far as the record goes. I do think we have a shot against Florida. They are not very good. Need to win the turnover and kicking game.

Honestly uncommon cents, how can you watch these games and NOT see a HUGE problem with the coaching.
I am thrilled to be 5-0, but I am also smart enough to see just how incredibly lucky we are to be there.
I can't imagine anyone with an objective opinion thinking that Miles deserved that win yesterday.

It's the fact that we could've beaten Ole Miss last year had it not been from poor clock management, and the fact that yes, Lee has earned the spot and yet time and time again he puts Jefferson back in only to see him fail. We got lucky against Tennessee, REAL lucky.

Time will prove this team has only been decent qb play away from big winning. Lee seems to have matured into that qb

The first play from schrimmage yesterday is why Lee is not the starting QB.
You throw out the threat of a running QB the instant Lee is inserted at QB.
I'm not saying that should decide the matter at all mind you, I'm just saying that is why.
Obviously Lee is a better passer, but I'm not sold on him overall.
I think LSU simply does not have an above-average SEC QB with either JJ or JL right now, period. JL is not going to save the LSU offense IMO.

Being 5-0 to less capable teams doesn't necessarily get me excited! Please ask the same question at the end of the season after we have played the heavy hitters.

The fact is that nobody knows if its Miles or Crowton. Whoever called plays in 2007 is not the person calling them now. I believe Miles has taken over since Jefferson came around and Crowton has taken a back seat. We have talent to open this up. We aren't using it. I know for a fact that Chavis runs his defense without help from Miles. Pelini did too. Miles needs to worry about recruiting and clock mgmt and not calling plays. He clearly can't assess talent on his team because he was the one sucking Jefferson all year.
Someone last night mentioned that Crowton should move to the sidelines to run his offense and let Ensminger go to the box for support. I think this might be a good idea. With Lee going forward we can open up the passing game and make playcalling easier. I for one think Miles has gotten too involved and needs to step back like in 2007. Be the CEO and let your coordinator do their job.

How many more times do you think THAT is likely to happen again? It's not like this is PP returning punts, who poses a real threat every time he drops back.

And you throw out the threat of a passing game when Jefferson is in there. I will take a pro style offense with a QB who doesn't run over a high school offense with a QB who cant throw all day long.
LSU has 4 SEC games coming up that it cannot win with JJ at QB. Not saying Lee will beat them but JJ cannot.

As for the question of "is Miles or Crowton running this offense?"...
I can say DEFINITIVELY that from watching Miles' offenses at Oklahoma State (and I mean every down of every game for his 4 years there)...
That these LSU offenses do not REMOTELY resemble those OSU offenses.
Miles never ran a spread at OSU. He ran something very similar to what Harbaugh runs at Stanford. His offenses at OSU were sharp and productive. "Run it and throw it deep" was the theme. A lot of bunch formation stuff.
I'm not saying Miles does not have a heavy hand in the absolute fiasco that the LSU offense has become the last three years, I'm just saying that what we are seeing does not remotely resemble what he was doing at OSU during his entire time there.

honestly who thinks we are 5-0 because of coaching unless you count defensive and special teams coaching and don't think for a second we have better athletes on defense we have just as good recruits on the offensive side as the defensive side. also name the good runs that jefferson has made in his career the run yesterday was a sprint because of a missed tackle that he really didn't make a move on and then nobody was around him at all also we still have florida bama auburn and arkansas on the schedule. i just don't see jefferson as a good enough runner to make up for his passing and decesion making

Miles was doing dub things on the sidlines before Crowton arrived. Remember the time out he tried to call on a change of posession. An assistant about tackled him to prevent it.
The last time Tennessee came to BR, we could have kicked a field goal just before the first half ended, instead we ran another play. JR, instead of throwing the ball away, tried to run it in. The clock expired before we could kick a field goal. That three points would have enabled us to win the game in regulation instead of losing in OT.

Yep things continue to spiral downward with each victory.
You are pathetic.

I'm not a negatiger, but this would be enough for me if it happened this afternoon!

I've stayed pretty much Posi-tiger through all this, and NO! I have seen and been exasperated enough that a change is absolutly a must!! The sooner the better, and as much as I have supported and tried to be objective about Les Miles, if he doesn't come out and say that Crowton is fired, or at LEAST a total lame duck, then it's time for Les to go too....
wow, first time I've said that outside my own head...
