It left w/ Jimbo's playbook and Matt Flynn.

that's the problem, it was too successful.

I don't think any of our outside WR block well enough for it to really work. Tolliver and Randle aren't exactly Bowe and Early clearing out space downfield.

The only way this play works is if the QB properly leads the receiver. If he has to stop, jump, turn around or otherwise break his stride it becomes a negative play.

We ran it once against MSU. It got knocked down at the line.

You gotta be able to coach it to run it...ain't that ain't happening.

I think about this every time I see more successful offenses run it. Then again, I do the same when I see more successful offenses run the option correctly, complete passes beyond the first down marker, complete passes downfield, give the ball to their best playmakers instead of the worst player on offense, pass to the tightend, run the wildcat, etc.
The short answer is that the bubble screen in not one of the four plays that Jefferson is comfortable with. As a result, it has been scrapped.

just imagine shep in this, not sure if TT and Randle can block down field that well though:

Jj can't make the throw consistently enough to risk the negative play

What about the middle screen we ran to Scott the last 2 years?

i agree dude it get sick to my stomach just watching other qbs make simple throws to there wideouts...then you start to wonder "i wish we had this guy we would be really hard to stop...u see the thing is we dont need a 5 star qb with the talent we have just a capable qb would do great with the talent we have a wr

agreed that the last time it was run properly was with jimbo and the 03 team...wow, what a play it was!
Posted on 10/1/10 at 12:59 pm to BulkLogan1
That would make 13 plays that JJ would have to learn. When he still hasn't mastered the first 12. Plus, he would have to throw an accurate pass with touch, which is also 2 things that he hasn't mastered. Run the option and get that positive 1.5 yards.

Wasn't that what Lee threw during his only series Saturday? A bubble screen that was nullified by a penalty? Then a 7 yard in?
Maybe I'm wrong.

conservative playback.
LM is worried this play will go the other way for a pick 6.
If not blocked correctly and thrown correctly, it will.

Bubble screen needs a high amount of accuracy to be a viable play. Its not only getting the ball to the WR, its getting it in a window so the WR isnt* totally defenseless and getting smoked. He's got to be able to take his eyes off the ball and look up field. We just don't have that kind of accuracy.

Lee threw to Ridley (or whatever RB is was) out of the backfield.
Then a five yard middle of the field route.
Then a five yard middle of the field route.
