good post

to be honest, i'm over expecting any kind of improvement. i'm over a drastic change of offensive personnel or philosophy. i'm over all of it, we're simply not going to see it.

at this point, i'm just concerned with wins no matter how ugly they are, just win. the offense is what it is and we'll cross future bridges when we get there, and hopefully we're a better team by then, but i'm not getting my hopes up.

He sure was when his interceptions kept getting returned for TD's. How soon people forget.

It kills me when people harp on this, so I looked at all 16 Lee picks from 2008.

1. App. St., LSU leading 34-7 in the 3rd.
Game in hand, careless mistake

2. Auburn, LSU losing 7-3 1:47 before the half. Returned for TD.
Seemed to be a back-breaker going down 14-3 before the half, and Lee was pulled from the game. Later, Hatch gets injured, so Lee comes back in and leads the team to victory.

3. Miss. St., LSU winning 17-3 in the 2nd
Standard INT

4. Florida, LSU losing 17-0 in 1st.
Sucks to be in comeback mode in the 1st quarter

5. Florida, LSU losing 34-14 in 4th, returned for TD
Still sucks to be in comeback mode

6. South Carolina, tied 10-10 2:38 remaining in 2nd
Trying to drive for a late 1st half score

7. Georgia, first play of game, returned for TD
Ouch

8. Georgia, LSU losing 21-17, 2nd quarter
Coaches playing musical quarterbacks, no rhythm

9. Georgia, LSU losing 45-31, late 4th, returned for TD
Comeback mode, but Lee came back in right afterward and threw a TD pass

10. Tulane, LSU leading 28-3 in 4th, returned for TD
3rd and 22, tried to get it all. Game in hand, inconsequential

11. Bama, no score 1st quarter
Bama scores off turnover, Lee comes in next drive and throws TD pass

12. Bama, LSU winning 14-7, 2nd quarter, returned for TD
That one hurt

13. Bama, LSU losing 21-14, 3rd quarter
Missed scoring opportunity

14. Bama, Overtime
Killer

15. Troy, LSU losing 17-3, 8:00 left in half, returned for TD
Comeback mode in 1st half vs. Troy? Lee gets pulled, Jefferson fails to do anything of note, Lee comes back in to lead the comeback of comebacks.

16. Ole Miss, LSU losing 21-3 in 2nd quarter
Comeback mode again

If Miles does read the Rant he's seen this same discussion a thousand times....
Lee should be given another chance...he stuck it out and stayed with the team and tried to make himself better.

Here we go.

What if Lee comes back and its the same problems? (Which I wish he has been transformed into the next Joe Montana)

And how long will it take the fans to start booing him if he struggles?

Everyone here wants more of this teams offense, maybe there isnt more..maybe this is it.

The one thing I do know....JJ is clearly rattled by the booing, it isnt helping him one bit and didnt help Lee either...
Is it helping the fans egos to boo because the team isnt perfect and they dont win every game by 50 points?

So if we point the finger at Miles for not coaching right, or Crowton for sucking at play calling (which I agree with) or JJ for not managing the offense, or the WR for dropping passes, or Lee for the pick 6's, or the team for being undisciplined, then where does the fans booing, clearing making matters worse come into play?
The same fans who want this team to play better are actually hurting the morale of the team.

If you went to work and they stayed on your arse all the time because you suck at your job, would you quit? Probably

Glad this team isnt quitting and I will support them as long as they play hard...

Very well written! Now if you could seriously send it to Miles and have him read it. You could always email it to the Les Miles show on Wednesday! Just a thought.

looking at those it seems most were due to being in a passing to catch up mode or trying to push for quick scores. With a decent run game and a Defense that keeps you out of catch up mode I would like to see him given a chance. Hell I like to try and find hope and right now he is about all I can find.

What is the criterion for sticky, making complete sentences? Cause it sure ain't substance.

This is well-written mindless drivel.

You start out by telling us how much more you know about the game because you played it at a certain level, then you proceed to explain why you now agree with those you tried to convince us that you knew better than.

Well, you convinced me. You convinced me your views are common and in no way unique. You also convinced me that when it comes to rantards, you belong at the head of the line.

BTW, I can change the oil in my car; that doesn’t mean I’m capable of racing in the Indy 500.

P.S. In your next letter to Miles could you please ask him how it is possible that in JJs second year as a starter he still has no clue what his strengths and weaknesses are or how to gameplan accordingly?

Wow. Well said!!!

As far as getting it in the local newspapers,i.e. buying space, why not submit it as a letter to the editor and maybe it would get printed.

Another idea: send the link to the original post or a copy of the original letter to the newswriters at The Advocate, T-P or to Guilbeau (he likes to stir the pot!!!!!)

That's putting yourself at the core. I'm just glad I'm not somebody who has to stand for everybody.

Miles being 4-0 and having lost the fan base, there could be no better time for him to apologize and step aside. That's what I'd do if I were him to avoid all those future defeats lining up in his path.

The booing is objectionable, to say the least. It almost sounds like rantards shelling out booze money to buy game tickets.

I also noticed Jefferson's facial reactions to the hostile crowd. He was an unhappy young man Saturday night, down on his teammates, his coaches, the fans and himself. The Tiger Stadium crowd has always been known to intimidate the enemy. Now it directs venom toward its own starting quarterback -- whose level of play seems to suffer for the abuse.

Fans now clamor for Jarret Lee, the most villified QB in LSU history until JJ replaced him. With a reverse changing of the guard obviously too frightful for the coach to let it happen, I think it's clear that we're going to sink or swim with Jefferson. And in that case, cultivate the promising running game with Ridley and Blue and an improved offensive line. If the run is established, Shepard and Randall will have breakaway chances. Given the ridiculous failure of the passing game as a designed strategy, it's to come-to-grips situation: Defense and special teams are good enough to win the games the offense doesn't lose. These Tigers won't beat anybody by much, but they could beat anybody by a little if the offense could just stay out of trouble and hit a big play now and then. Offense needs to narrow its focus, find its identity, stop all the variation shennanigans, do what it does best and let the defense and special teams tip the scales. This is a mighty tough team. The offensive disarray is best corrected by simplification. I suspect this is a team that can line up and win without gimmicks.

Yeah, cut out the cute shite. It seems like they have 50 formations for about 15 different plays. Very irritating.

According to Miles, "JJ is a great participant". What we need is a great quarterback.

its obvious that alot of thought went into writing this objectively...however, to address Coach Miles by "Les" seems a bit disrespectful, especially when the author is using a screen name. but that would be to assume that Coach Miles starts his day off with a dose of the rant.

An excellent post......The coaches see this and I really believe they work hard at trying to give Jefferson the best coaching in practice they can. One can lead a horse to water but cannot make the horse drink the water. Is Jefferson a better practice qb than Lee? Must be. But the coaches are being paid to do their best. If this is their best and LSU really doesn't have a great qb, then go out and support this team no matter what.........I will not and have not ever Booed the team or players I support......ever.....

Les Miles SEC record after Sept. is 4 wins & 8 losses for the 08 & 09 seasons. Remember, he was still using Saban's players to win in 07.

The fan base isn't stupid, we know what's ahead.

I didn't read the entire thread, so if this point has been made, and especially if it has been made and the the OP has identified himself, then my apologies.

One of the defining qualities of a message board on the internet is that posters can be, and typically are, completely anonymous. It provides a measure of security for the posters, but it also permits all manner of absurdity, vulgarity, and rank dishonesty.
A serious and well thought out post such as the one that started this thread suffers from this quality of message boards, in that, assuming the poster really wants the coach to read it and give it credence, he needs to identify himself with more than the unsubstantiated assertion that he once played college football. While there is no reason to doubt the assertion, there is also no reason to believe it. This isn't casting aspersions on the poster. It is simply the nature of a message board. The poster will give credibility to himself and the cause which he espouses if he puts his name on the post.
