Why in the hell doesn't Jordan Jefferson scan the field. I seen many times where he looks at one receiver and then runs, there were receivers wide arse open but he never looked but to one guy.

The coaches have to see this. Why don't they tell him to scan the f'n field.

What makes you think they don't? It is possible you know that no matter how hard they try, the kid just doesn't get it. Not every player shortcoming can be directly linked to a failure by the coaching staff.

The coaches have simplified the offense for JJ to try and alleviate the 37 sacks he took last year. They've fixed that problem it seems. The only problem is by fixing that, they've completely killed the passing offense.

The passing offense wasnt worth a shite last year either when he was gettin sacked...the point is JJ cant go through progressions...he didnt have to in high school and he is still playing like that. HE ISNT A COLLEGE QB! His eyes go to one wide receiver and when that WR makes his break on a route if he isnt open then JJ freaks out and either runs or throws the ball away or takes a sack! Its not the coaching staff that says "hey JJ if that one guy you are STARING at isnt open then run" HE is suppose to be old enough, mature and developed as a QB to fricken go through progressions, if he cant do that then he needs to go play basketball at the Rec.

Many times, really? JJ was 10 of 16 passing for a 62.5 percent completion rate in that game, and out of his 6 incompletions RS dropped two of them, one on a check off that would have been a first down and another one that would have been a touchdown. Another incompletion was on a fade route to Terrance Toliver that was close but no cigar, and another one was when Alfred Blue didn’t pick up the blitz and let the blitzing linebacker run right past him to hit JJ as he was in the process of throwing the ball causing the ball to fall short. Hence, that leaves 2 incompletions, which is hardly “many times,” but thanks for your thoroughly unbiased review. It is well respected.

Now, I did notice on a couple occasions when JJ was running for his life that there was an open receiver, but JJ couldn't get his body around to throw the ball and hence ran it for a short gain.

Yeah noticed a a couple of balls he threw that could/should have been intercepted.

And the late pitch to Blue was almost dropped. (However could have just as much been Blues fault)

Of course Shepard had several drops on balls that could/should have been caught.

In other words we looked decent running the ball, but the passing offense is still terrible and I did not see the improvement in Jefferson most did.

Against a good defensive club we would have been in real trouble.

Yeah right. If JJ is too stupid to be a SEC quarterback put in JL. However, JL is the backup and not the starter. Hence, either there is some sort of sinister conspiracy to keep JL off the field by the coaching staff or more obviously you don't know your arse from a hole in the ground.

My take after watching the replay was that we need to stop running east west so much. We had several plays where on 1st and 10 RS and in one case Ridley tried to run around the outside only to take a loss. This kind of play call puts us behind the chains and ended up stalling at least two if not more of the first half FG drives. Our line has done a much better job this season of springing runs up the middle for Ridley with a cut back here or there. A couple of times RS made plays around the end where he should have been tackled for a loss but used his athleticism to blow by the defender in position. We also missed at least 3 blitz pick ups including the one by Blue many people have mentioned previously. If these two issues can be corrected than we would have added at least 2 TD's against State alone.

Wow. that's probably never ocurred to them !
Run down to the football office and alert them.
Say "tell JJ to scan the field".

Listen and learn.
JJ does not have the pocket presence to methodicaly and consistently run through his progressions.
And he takes sacks on the deep drops and lacks timing to boot.
So in order to keep the offense moving, they like him to do 2 step drops/slants and more importantly what he excels at; which is the rollout.
The rollout allows him to use his running ability and shortens the field for him.
It is what it is.
If Lee was not prone to turning the ball over he'd be in there.

I expect them to continue to rely on what their QB CAN do rather than try to fit their square peg in the fan's round hole.
The more mature among us will reluctantly make our peace with this.
People like you will whine and cry...
Go JJ, Go Tigers !

Crowton has dumbed down his offense at the Chicago Bears, BYU, and at Oregon before he ever arrived at LSU and apparently it still hasn’t been dumbed down enough because no quarterbacks at the aforementioned places, both pro and college, were able to run it successfully, and why should we be surprised that so for two quarterbacks at LSU have been unable to run it over here as well?

Yes, but it is not considered an attempt when he tucks and runs after seeing his primary receiver is not open.

RUSHING No.Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg.
Stevan Ridley 19 82 4 78 1 20 4.1
Jo. Jefferson 10 43 3 40 1 16 4.0

Take out his long (which was a designed run) and he averaged less than 2.7 yards a carry.
What does this tell me, JJ doesn't throw the ball away.
