They are talking LSU right now. I heard Hokie this morning on the radio making predictions on tomorrow's game. He also said his comments were not based on watching MSU play or knowing anything about the MSU team. WTF!!! How can this guy talk LSU and he knows nothing about the program?

Well he did play football at LSU so he knows something about the program

When was a law passed that sports radio talk show hosts have to know anything? Their job is to sell air time.

Well, last week, he didn't know wide receiver coach Billy Gonzales's name. Called him Rodriguez or somthing. Hokie didn't know Michael Ford's name. I forget what he called him. Hokie just isn't really following the programs to be commenting on it.

The program then and now is completely different.

Last year Hokie kept picking the Saints to loose several games which they then went on to win.
Big Chief fills that "good ole boy who seems simple but has homespun wisdom" spot on WWL much better than Hokie. He's a better foil for Hebert too.

On a day to day basis, Hokie probably has to spend a lot more time covering the Saints. I think he often has some decent football insight but I have noticed a lack of depth in his LSU football knowledge at times.

Hokie - some memories . . .
- '78 vs UK; UK had a safety named Venus Meaux who intercepted a pass late in the game, took off returning it, and Hokie absolutely planted him
- '79 vs OM; caught a pass out in the flats and took it to the house. Very instrumental in a great Tiger comeback.

Hokie is one of the toughest players ever at LSU, and is a great person, and a good friend.

and he probably has the highest yards per carry than any Saints player period. He just isn't studying enough of football teams to add good comments for people who are tunning in to hear it. Tell him to study up more on LSU football, so he can give us what we deserve from radio as much as he did for giving us what we deserved from his on field play.
Also, if you are the same Ethan Martin who I watched play for LSU, thanks for the thrilling times watching the best years of Tiger Basket Ball.

Hokie is there to comment on the Saints. Michael Ford has 2 or 3 carries this year. What is there to comment on ? NOBODY knows how good he'll be in college. A LOT of posters on this site THINK they know, but really, they don't know chit. Hokie has earned the right to say what the hell he wants to say about LSU. He worked as a scout for the Saints after his knee injury ended his playing day. Hokie tells it like it is and sometimes it's not want we want to hear, but he speaks from his heart and is honest.

He actually has returned a kick-off for a touchdown for the Tigers. Against UF in 1978, I think.

Yea I think he likes to tilt them back a lil' bit myself, but who am I to judge, lol. He was one hell of an athlete and put up some very impressive numbers. It's a shame his career ended so early.

hokie can barely walk these days. he was a hitter and it shows.
i am personally a hokie fan. met him a few times and he is a genuine guy even though he is a Baker boy.
granted, sometimes he gets his shite wrong but i enjoy listening to opinion and talks during saints and tigers games.

I like Hokie and Hebert. And Deke at times. Can't take them serious just fun ole sports talkin and goofin. Mike Detilier ( how ever you spell it) knows a bit more. I have heard him call it right when a win was going to be a win and a loss going to be a loss.
