I will be coming to the game tomorrow morning, and havent been to Baton Rouge in a while. I hear it has changed tons since Katrina. Any advice you guys can give me of places to avoid traffic wise and safety wise. Thanks for any help you can provide me.
Hoping for a clean, hard fought, injury free game tomorrow.

katrina changed New Orleans, slim.
ETA: there will be over 100,000 people on campus. there is no way to avoid traffic.

mostly obvious things, the interstate will be full of traffic. any road going into campus will either be off limits or full of people. get there early, plan to stay for a bit before going back. good luck and TIGER BAIT!

Baton Rouge is essentially the same, maybe more people since Katrina...
traffic is a lock though, no avoiding it.

Come early if you want a parking spot.
Come very very early if you want a place to park your RV.

Katrina definitely changed BR as well, slim. Remember the rapid growth in BR's population after Katrina, more memorably, the growth in traffic?
To answer the OP's question, it's hard to avoid traffic, but as long as you head to campus before noon, it should be tolerable. It ultimately depends on when you leave to head to campus, so just avoid the agony of traffic and leave early from your hotel.

I was hoping to get some legitimite advice, and not OT teenager type comments.
I know there will be traffic but what will be the best way in? Last time I was in BR I took Dalrymple (sp) is there a better route into campus or one with less traffic coming from Denham springs on I-12?

yes. Coming on 1-10, when you see the big green sign that says "LSU Left" it means for you to turn around and go back home. Have a great drive

When did the OT take over the Tiger Rant?

I would get off at acaidian and come around that way. there may be parking spots around john parker

It depends on what part of the campus you are trying to go to. BTW, many parts of the campus are closed to traffic so that makes it even harder to get to certian spots.
I usually avoid Dalrymple, but others may know a good way through there.
I tailgate out by the Vet school which is between the stadium and the river and it's usually fairly easy to access that area as long as you get out there by noon.
Coming from the Denham Springs area, pass Dalrymple and exit on Government street. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp and head toward the river. You'll need to negotiate a few turns, but your intent is to get to River Road headed south. There's a few extra turns between Government Street and River road so you'll need a map or GPS. You should find plenty of parking out there as well.

Dalrymple or Acadian..... If you want, you could also head back down I-10 toward NOLA and get off on Bluebonnet and that ends at Nicholson. The only thing that would suck about that is the construction I-10 at the 10-12 split. They shouldn't be working on Saturday though.
Traffic sucks down here 24/7/365!

There is going to be traffic and tons of people no matter what. The earlier you get there the less hectic it will be. What time did you plan on getting on campus??
Oh and please leave your damn cowbells at home. Tigerbait!!!!
