I lived in the bay area for ten years. Have fun and spend as much time as possible in the Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 area, it's can't miss!!!!!

SAY WHAT??? That tourist trap of an area?

STAY AWAY from that area IMO...MUCH better food etc, elsewhere.

You might want to read up a few posts from mine to the OPs response to my first post. Maybe then your sarcasm meter will click on.

DVD, I haven't been to San Fran is almost a decade, so I really don't remember any great restaurants. I do remember that at 12 years old, Alcatraz was THE shite. Check it out if you get a chance.

DIM SUM! No place else I have been is quite like what I have had in SF.

+1, although the best personal dim sum I've ever had was in Le quartier chinois de Montréal (Montréal's Chinatown).

Fisherman's Wharf...tourist trap

Fisherman's Wharf is indeed the touristy French Quarter of San Fran. There's a Ripley's Believe it or Not there...enough said.

Cool Chinese place in China Town

Aside from aesthetic presentation, what's the point in battering a shell-on crab?

I can't believe that Anthony Bourdain went five minutes without a cigarette.

Fisherman's Wharf is indeed the touristy

This is true but its worth visiting the area for its scenic atmosphere alone.

Very good photo ops. I did get a dungeon crab cooked at prepared by the street vendor which was ok. To not go there because its touristy is like visiting New Orleans and avoiding the Quarter.
