end of first quarter. 1. comeback on sideline to RR, not perfect but should have been caught 2. pass in flat to RS just over helmet high, penetration by Vandy, hurries throw, cathcable but would have been good catch 3. pocket breaks down, scrambles left and slightly overthrows RR who was well covered 4. perfect to TT 5. perfect to TT 6. perfect to Mitch J

This.
Not every ball is going to be thrown perfectly, but JJ was not really giving his receivers a chance with his location last night. They were having to contort and twist their bodies to try and catch balls.

for a five star recruit who is getting paid to go to school to catch a football, should have been caught.

We look better today than we did yesterday IMO

That was not a terrible throw. The ESPN guys said he should have caught it.
Rollins on Cox also said that it was a catch that RR will usually make. Not an easy catch (and not an easy throw), but very workable.
They get worse as the game goes on though.

No one should be getting paid to catch the football, or LSU would problems right along with UNC.
It's not as if the receivers were blanketed and the the pass rush was in JJ's face all night.
Most had 2-3 steps on their man, but you have to get it there. You don't want to depend on your receivers to make great catches on every throw.

Just excuses. JJ isn't cutting it. Bench him.

Your right - the announcers on both stations were wrong.
You want awful - look at the INT. he threw in the end zone. That's awful. That first pass though was not awful.

Whether it's catchable or not.. too often our athletes at receiver are catching balls in a position where they can't make a play after catching it; having to dive, jump or stop in their tracks and lose all momentum.

Slice it any way you want to. 96 yards against Vandy don't cut it

its a lot easier to catch a football than to throw a football; you don't see any converted wr's playing qb, do you?

Thats the answer to all our problems.
Move JJ to wide receiver.

look like it cut it bout 27-3

As an ex-receivor I can say that if your QB gets a high percentage of his throws in a reasonable catchable range then you will "give yourself up" to catch the ones he throws "off". When its normal for the QB's passes to be a little off then it makes the receivor a little less willing to string himself out.
