Do you think JJ did a great job on Saturday? Scale 1-10

Jordan Jefferson completed 15 of 21 passes for 153 yards JJ had an intentional grounding and threw one interception.

He gets a 6 in my book.

I can't argue with 6, but would not have given it to him.

This thread is prompted by Dandy Don's grading of the team's performance.

As for an overall college QB he may be around a 7 or so, but LSU standards are a little higher IMO.

Any particular reason you failed to mention the two TD passes other than it doesn't fit your agenda?

he looked a little better, but the playcalling was pretty similar to the last 2 seasons

I'd give him a weak 7. I believe he showed some progress- but still needs work.

The childish pick he threw had me scratching my head, but the guy looked like a world-beater at times. Those TD passes were beautiful.

from an outsiders perspective this was his only really BAD mistake; he shouldnt be doing these types of thing as for the int, that happens no big deal. I thought your OL and not Jefferson was your problem last yr.

The pick and the intentional grounding hurt him, but the great pass to Randle sure helps him. But, of course, we don't know what his options are on each play and how well he did at going through them and selecting the right one. His stats looked OK, and that pass to Randle looked good, so I guess he gets about a 6.

4 - but I knock him 4 points just for taking a sack and grounding call while in field goal range.

He did show a lot of progression before that intentional grounding call. He stood in the pocket on several passes and made plays, whereas last year he'd run straight back and take a sack. He improved his running too.

However, he showed zero progression in going through reads, mechanics/accuracy. The dude has some pretty terrible mechanics. 3 yard passes turn into a chore to catch by him and his throwing motion allows the defense to adjust faster. Still locks onto his first read and definitely still holds the ball too long. On his long passes, even then, he was holding the ball way too long. It was just his o-line was giving him good protection...

He gets a 3 in my book. It isn't just passing. He still can't run the option. He still misses the read on the DE on handing off or keeping it. And he still doesn't seem to know what he's doing.
