not familiar with miss, but look and see if there's any public land nearby where you can hunt. i'm sure you can shoot/catch hogs year round, and there should be plenty of public spots in mississippi. do you have any dogs, or just a rifle?

You should check out Pearl River WMA. Place is thick, but loaded with hogs. It helps hunting here if you have a boat.

If your willing to go to South GA, I've got a heck of a spot with great hog hunting and a fantastic lodge. $450 per person for a 3 day hunt. 2 hogs per person but no meals provided.

Pearl River WMA brother....thousands of hogs there and relatively easy parking/walking...signs everywhere when I went a couple of years ago...probably are even more now...

If you would have asked about two months earlier you could have come to my lease in central Louisina and hunted all the freaking hogs you wanted. Im over run with the SOB's. Had a guy who wanted to trap them, told him to get after it long as he was done by August, dick never trapped shite. Your more than welcome next year

Didn't I read a thread not too long ago saying that the meat from wild hogs wasn't all that palatable? I presume that like a lot of animals the younger the less "gamey" the taste. And if anyone has cooked wild hogs feel free to chime in with suggestions/best way to cook them.

I've heard this as well, anything over 100 lb.s is too gamey.

Where's your lease? I hunt turkeys at my uncle's gravel pit near Gardner. Beaucoup hogs.

They are eatible depending upon size and amount of russian boar vs feral hog in them.
THe more Russian in them the less meat on them and the less palatable from what I have found. THe more feral hog the better eating no matter what size. I shot one in my front yard last winter that weighed 300+ and he was one of the best eating wild hogs I've ever had but he was mostly feral pig. I've shot small russian boars that tasted like crap. As a rule if you have a choice shoot small first and then work your way up in size.
However don't fool yourself they look dumb and easy to hunt. They are in fact about 100X smarter than a deer. You may kill them one way the first time but the second time will be much more difficult.
