Does anyone really think that Boise State will play for a Title?

Like seriously?

The computers will never allow it. Their schedule this year is worse than last year. It's about as bad as the year before. Computers make up 1/3 of the formula... and they'll finish no higher than 5th or 6th even if they're the only undefeated team. That makes it impossible to be ranked #1 and very hard to be ranked #2... a 1 loss SEC, Big 12, or Big Ten team would jump them.

Why do so many so-called experts keep picking them when it's so obvious that it'll never happen?

They would have to go 12-0, and have 1 other team with 1 loss, and everybody else with 2+. That way they would be a clear #1 or 2, and that plus other teams losses would be about the only way they could make up enough ground in the computers.

It would be almost impossible. Even a 1 loss ACC champ that isn't Virginia Tech would go above Boise State, IMO.

2 loss GT finished 8th in the computers last season, when Boise was 6th, so there's no doubt all 1 loss BCS teams will finish above Boise in the computers. It would have to be a miracle season for Boise like 2007, but with EVERYONE having at least 2 losses

Will never happen. It's like saying there could be a national champ with 2 losses.

Highly unlikely, though not outside the realm of possibility. Hell, Nebraska beats Texas last year we got TCU playing for a title. Weirder shite has happened.

No, I think and hope that VT beats them and beats them bad this year. They've been making a living off of an weak arse schedule and a 5 year old OU upset. fukem

TCU plays in a much tougher conference, and Cincy still may have jumped TCU if voters didn't want a nonBCS team in

First let them beat Virginia tech

If they're the only undefeated team I think it would be hard for them to be left out. Even if they're like 5 in the computer polls they would more than likely be #1 in the human polls.

And a lot will depend on VT and OSUw. If they were both to win their respective conferences it would have to help Boise's case

ok... so boise state gets #5 in the computer polls.. that was good for .840 last year

they get .990 in the other two polls.. makes for a .940 average

the #2 team gets about a .95 in both polls and then a .990 in the computers = .963

the #3 team gets a .93 in both polls and a .97 in the computers = .943

boise state still gets left out.

now these numbers can fluctuate in boise's favor.. but the fact is that 5th in the computer polls is pretty much the lowest they can get and still have a chance to play.. and that chance isn't guaranteed, especially considering that they won't be an overwhelming #1 pick in the human polls
