Played most of the season with no qb.
so Saban gets a pass for this and Miles doesn't? Awesome.

He had less talent at alabama the last two years and he goes undefeated in two regular seasons.
Don't forget the last 2 years were considered "down" years in the SEC. (See Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee and arguably LSU)

Yea good teams win close games. Saban will get a lead in the 4th quarter and sit on it. His OL and DL are built for this.

Alabama...That was on Crowton and Lee

Bama's program was in better shape than LSU's when he arrived at each school.
No, it wasn't really.
Ridiculous. Bama was by no stretch an elite powerhouse when Saban took over, but to compare them to eight losing seasons in 11 years, back to back 4-7 and 3-8 seasons, 12 years removed from the last SEC title, 14 years removed from the last major bowl appearance, outrageous rates of attrition and by far the worst period in our history is just silly.

Wait a second. This happens at schools other than LSU?
You're kidding!?

so Saban (in his third year after losing his QB to a sudden injury in midseason when his backup had missed all of summer workouts and most of fall practice because of an injury) gets a pass for this and Miles (in his fourth and fifth years, with at least a full spring, summer and fall to develop any one of three contenders for the job) doesn't?
Yes.

Good god, when will people realize LSU and the SEC are different today than when Saban was at LSU. LSU itself is a different creature than when Saban was here. You cannot compare Sabans tenure to Miles tenure at LSU because the program and conference were different.
All that matters is right now and I agree with many currently Saban is a better coach. He did what all great coaches do and he learned how to become better. There are no facts to say he "underachieved" while at LSU only opinions because LSU was completely in 2000 compared to Alabama in 2007.

He is and has been a better coach... right now?

Yes you can..... you can compare his record for his tenure to that of Miles....

The facts are that a great number of people on this board say Les underachieves....
Thats a fact, and its also a fcat that Nicks record at LSU is comparable to that of Les Miles in terms of accomplishments and blunders.....
It is a fact that in his last game, his personnaly coached DB blew coverage and got us beat in a game that we had won...
FACT!

I do not believe you can, first off Saban was taking over after 2 straight losing seasons and following a 3-8 season. He was not in the business of maintaining LSU he was in business of building LSU.
Miles took over 2 years after a national championship and a 9 win season.
If you want to believe the program was on equal footing in 2000 compared to 2005 then I am sorry retard runs in your family. Most people understand that in 2000 the LSU football team had some talent but it was not loaded. It lacked depth, it lacked fundamentals, and it lacked a lot of things compared to the 05 unit. Les Miles came to a team that was ready to win from Day 1, Les Miles continued the success that Saban had started and he was great at it.

Are you really blaming a hail mary? Good god, some of you people have your blinders on for good. It was a freak play, a busted coverage; I do not blame a coach for that.
If you want to be stupid and compare their records go for it. I just feel sorry you cannot understand the state of LSU was different in 2005 than 00. The talent of the 05 team compared to that of the 00 team was substantially greater. LSU and the SEC was different compared to 2000 and to now, the entire landscape of college football was different but it is fair to compare records. If Saban had taken over a program that was 2 years removed from a national championship and coming off a winning season, you may have some basis for your argument but here you really do not. It is funny that people use their records to determine the better coach when one was taking over a losing program and the other was taking over a winning program.

Just simple recognition of the drastic difference between the two situations. If you don't see the difference between losing your QB six months before the season (or 18, in the case of 2009) and losing him six games into the season, then you're either not very knowledgeable or hiding your head in the sand. If you don't see the difference between not having enough depth to have a quality third string QB in your third year and not having enough depth to have a quality starter in your fifth year, you're either not very knowledgeable or hiding your head in the sand.
I'm guessing it's some of both in your case.

Yes, they were much different. Comparing the records of Les Miles in 2005-07 with Saban's records from 2000-02 is like saying Mike Archer was better than Bill Arnsparger and Saban because he had a better record through his first two years than either of them did.

Wish he was back here and Miles was still at OSU.
