An investment group seeking to build an arena on the Las Vegas Strip claims it is on the cusp of purchasing an NBA team to play in the facility.
For the deal to go through, said Chris Milam, CEO of International Development Management LLC, the group must strike a deal with the county to fund construction of the arena — dubbed the Silver State Arena — slated for the old Wet ’n Wild water park site.
“We have an NBA team under contract,” Milam said, declining to name the franchise. But the deal will take effect only if “other pieces of the puzzle fall into place: One of those pieces will be that a building (arena) is approved,” he said.

Huge buyout of lease, unlikely

Everything points to the Chouest deal still being on. First, Shinn continues to prominently mention Chouest where he doesn't have to, both in the Chris Paul "Not Trading Him" release to yesterday's comments about Bower and finding a new GM. 2nd all of the press is talking as if the deal is still on track. 3rd, Chouest's buy out clause was a poison pill designed to make it hard for the team to be sold or moved, plus there is the state penalties for breaking the lease. The Hornets are probably not the cheapest team available to outsiders right now.

Vegas? How are the Kings not the first team anyone immediately thinks of?

You are right, the Kings are the most available and owned by the Maloofs. No brainer

Sale of franchise... Maloofs aren't selling.

Could the Maloof brothers be part of the investment group and aren't being named?

That's silly. Las Vegas doesn't have a lake worth mentioning. I'm gonna quit reading this board and go back to listening to my Louis Armstrong Live in Utah album.

NBA team in Las Vegas?
That doesn't sound fishy or anything...

Bottom right.

Without knowing the details, that may be semantical. It could be a "sale" to a holdco that is owned by the Maloofs, no one has any idea. Personally, I'm not believing any of this story right now to begin with.

I think any NBA team that moved to Las Vegas should be required to take on the "Wet n' Wild" name.
