After this, it appears to me that he does not. But what are you referring to anyway? Just their arms? Isn't Bailey pretty tall himself? And he's clearly the superior athlete.

sounds a lot like some of the 'tards baggin on our signing of Mo Claiborne

Maybe so. Nobody's claiming him to be the savior or even a starter. Just that we're in no worse shape going into the season with him as 3rd/4th string QB than we would have been with Garrett. If Garrett sucks, which apparently he does.

Don't know it for fact at all, it just makes the most sense.

I'm not reading the entire thread so this may have already been posted.
About two weeks ago, someone in the support staff told me that CG was in the doghouse. I didn't believe it at the time.
He said the staff was disappointed in his attitude. Not competitive, had no desire to unseat Jefferson, and displayed poor leadership.
Looks like Miles tried to light a fire under his arse by yanking the scholly and CG walked.

that just makes too much sense. I think our staff knew how incredible he would be and got scared.

He was rated #28 dual threat QB in the nation and a solid three star.

He made it clear he was going to LSU, walking on.

shite I forgot he said we cut him. This is nuts

1. Dandy sez his parents got a registered letter telling them LSU is not going to pay his tuition for the fall.

2. Why is this nuts? Do you know so much about Garrett's progression? Do you know so much about Bailey's progression?

wait did he actually cut him or did CG ask for release?

when Garrett signs with La Tech or U La La or Southern Miss
we will hear the details. So far, all we know is that his parents got a registered letter telling them he was not on scholarship for the fall which sounds like CUT.

Obviously you transfer one way or the other because your not going to play. Coaches decision or his on observation, doesnt matter. Its a better situation. It gets ZL closer to the field and makes the competition a little more attractive to would be recruits.

Pretty sure most people weren't ragging on Claiborne when they watched his film. Most didn't understand how he was so under the radar...

I know that nobody cares, but I'm subscribing to the theory that Barrett Bailey outperformed him. Just based on the perception I have is that Bailey is willing to do whatever it takes, and I hope it works out for him. I don't give a damn how many stars he had in high school.

You do realize that rivals splits QBs into two categories, right? Pocket Passer and Dual-Threat. Bailey is the #24 "dual-threat" QB. Not the #24 overall. He's a "dual-threat" QB that ran a 4.7 forty.

He's a two-star on scout and ranked as the #101 overall prospect at QB.

Garrett was a three-star on Scout as ranked as the #27 overall prospect at QB.

#27 to #101 is a huge difference.

Look, I'm not trying to hate on the guy, but he's only D1 offers were from Northwestern State and ULM.

Bailey is either better than expected (or better than Garrett) or he is not. If he is - it doesn't change the calculus, except on depth, for 2012 (and we have the opportunity to sign a QB in 2011 and a QB in 2012 behind, presumptively, Zach Lee and Bailey in 2012). If he isn't, we have another possible RP situation. But that is not really comparable, either, as Garrett has not played and has not proven anything.

I'm a believer in a big stable of QBs. The fact we can't keep more than 2 or 3 guys on scholarship is troubling, but it is what it is.
