or is it all just hype and jumping on the bandwagon. I honestly don't see sports like baseball, hockey and soccer not being elite as long as it is not a primary sport in the urban communities. Just my thought. I expect USA soceer to finish with another moral victory.

I am. I played for 11 years and I used to go to Miami Fusion games before the club ceased operations.

I suck at playing the game, so I never really did. But I absolutely love it. The 2002 Cup is really what got me going hardcore.

I am. I would rather watch a random EPL match over any American Football game not involving either LSU or the Saints. I watch as much as possible. The game is getting more popular in the US and will only continue to do so. It won't ever overtake the big three. But it will be the number four sport in the US, sooner rather than later.

this happens during every world cup. people start to follow. some stay on. some lose interest. i would imagine that most of the people on this board have more than a passing interest in the game, but it doesn't really matter. if you are an american, this is your bandwagon too.
i mean, i remember recording (on vhs) spl matches (when i was a kid, obviously. fml) and labeling them with the two teams, events, and minutes that the events occurred, but that doesn't make me anymore american than anyone else.

Possible, not certainly (if you're from the South, I'd see why you'd think that, though).

I played in high school and intramurals at Alabama and have a son who is a keeper for a travel team, so yes, I am really a soccer fan.
I have just been waiting for the rest of America to catch up with me

I remember watching France 1998 as a 7 year old and being pissed off about losing to Germany/Iran/Yugoslavia and finishing last in the entire tournament. So yeah, I'm really a soccer fan.

It all started when I was 5, and I scored 6 goals in my first game. I played baseball, basketball, and football too growing up but when I had to choose between sports I always chose soccer. When I got older I played nearly year round. Most of my childhood was spent on the soccer field.

Domenech would be frightened by that pic, imo. Good thing he isn't familiar with LSU or this board.

Yeah, where else do you think he could get the brains to engineer a Les Blues implosion.

I never played the game, except on the playground at school. I think I would've played in high school if we had a team. I watched a little bit of the World Cup in 98 and then watched most of the games in 2002 and started getting into the FIFA games around that time too.
