"IT'S THE SPILL STUPID"

Is it just me or is anybody else tired of listening to pompous and arrogant politicians belittle people on national TV. I see no need for these hearings blasting BP until after the well has been capped and the spill mostly cleaned up. If they want to have these high powered meetings, lets discuss what is going on in the gulf and what we are going to do from this point forward. What really irks me is that the same people telling BP they have broken rules and cut corners are the ones who have put us so far in debt that we may never recover. I doubt many of the politicians could identify a centralizer if the other two choices were a cow and a pig. If BP had the balance sheet of our government, they would already be in bankruptcy. Enough politics.
I have tried to keep up with the blowout and subsequent work. There have been some amazing things done trying to stop the flow and/or collect the oil. It is obvious that there are many factors that the public either doesn't know or understand involved in controlling this well.
I am not defending BP in any way. However, I think they are trying to control this and bring it to an end. I have always loved Louisiana and the rest of the gulf coast. I truly hope the damage is less than what is projected. Lets leave politics out and stop the leak and get on with recovery. Other people's tragedies should not be used to advance one's political agenda.

I think its kind of funny how the same group of people that accuse BP of being greedy for profits, will also accuse them of not doing everything they can to stop a problem that is basically haemorrhaging huge sums of money from them in all sorts of ways.

And the longer this persists the more it will cost them. There is nobody that wants this to end more than BP.

The funniest was when they try to call out the CEO not knowing everything when it was going down.
I am 100% certain that not everybody in Washington knows everything about what they are connected to.

My son was giving me grief about "well, he should know ... he's the boss". I likened it to the Commander in Chief ... does he know what every Army Captain/Sargent is doing at all times and all decisions made? Probably not.

Damn, you guys seem to really like Tony Heyward. I think watching him answer questions is pointless but hilarious.

This is nothing more than a political campaign parade. Oh look how bad I am beating up on the BP COE. Reelect me! I am the prettiest peacock in the parade.

The in charge of this well fricked up and BP is going to pay big time. There is no point in this ridiculous fricking dog and pony show. Fix the problem, address our OWN fricking ridiculous incompetence in handling the spill and protecting the coast, then sue the frick out of BP for everything that everyone is entitled to.
In the end... if things are corrected and people are compensated... we'll be to do the math and see that that jobs and revenue BP brings to the Gulf Coast have done FAR more for the people there than ALL of those a-hole politicians combined.

The hearings are pointless. When you are threatened with lawsuits there isn't a whole lot you can say. I watched one guy(maybe Waxman) try to get Heyward to admit that they were negligent. There will be a time and place for that type of questioning. Right now all that matters is stopping the leak and cleaning up.
And no Heyward is not my favorite but he is just the whipping boy.

The height of hypocrisy is the pols calling out BP execs. The politicians in this country are bought and paid for by those same execs. Everything is being done for the cameras and the next election cycle.

I don't know if BP could pull this off without financial ruin but it would be interesting to see what would happen if they totally pulled out of the U.S. Cut all political ties and remove all infrastructure. I would think these same idiots in Washington grilling the company on national TV would come back crying for BP to come back.

frick the blame game, there is plenty of time for that bullshite. It's time to get the horses back in the barn.

I think to Mofo's playing politics are pissing me off more than the spill itself.

Gee, take a trip down to your old fishing spots this weekend and report back if a few politicians blowing hot air is worse than this environmental disaster that will linger for years.
