A friend of mine’s son has started a catering business to provide breakfast and lunch for 100-150 workers every day. That is great for the immediate future but is not sustainable for the distant future
Yes they are. Trailer parks are going in on any available piece of land. There are very few rental homes for the students of the three local colleges.

And yes, I am sure our politicians are spending the increase in revenue wisely. Sarcasm!
Stargate is the AI center I am most familiar with outside of Abilene
They are constructing a large data center outside of Abilene, TX which is where I live. We do not have enough water to service Abilene as it is. Most summers we experience water rationing for our yards and businesses. I will be very curious to see what happens to our electricity rates. However, the biggest drawbacks I have experienced are the following:

Hotel rates have doubled/tripled due to housing temporary workers. This prevents people from visiting for work or pleasure.

There has been a huge increase in traffic, mainly crushed rock haulers on our roads.

Restaurants are hard to get in to.

They have provided higher paying jobs at the expense of local companies. As our local companies fight to retain employees our cost of living has gone up.

I have no problem with progress but for me personally it has not been a positive impact on this city and community. Most of these people will be gone in a few years and it remains to be seen what impact that will have on those still here.
I don’t know what it is. But I wish I had some of it.
While I agree four teams are enough, the top 4 seeds (2024,2025) are 0-6. Need a process to determine the top 4 seeds.
I think it’s the lack of competitiveness. I have been watching LSU football for 50 years. Last Saturday I watched the World Series. I switched over during the replay of the punt return. Went back to the World Series. There seems to be a lot of talent all over the field. Being embarrassed on your home field by AM was the nail.
Serious question. Does any coach at a P4 school ever coach to the end of their contract? It seems like most either move to another school or get fired.

We were there in September. As others have said the American Cemetery is emotionally moving. I tried to learn as much as I could about what went on at Normandy before we went. I am glad I did. If you haven't seen Band of Brothers I recommend watching it before you go. I will always remember visiting Normandy.
I have to ask. Is gameday as bad as you all are describing? I have tried to come back periodically for a game but not sure I will again (600 mile trip).

We just returned from Lisbon. The Peña Palace was closed due to the threat of grass fires. Be sure to check before heading that way.
I blame the practice of awarding participation trophies as the beginning of a lot of the current problems.
Took the kids to Wet and Wild several years ago. There was a lady shaving her legs in the wave pool. We left and never went back.

LSU and Tennessee.
Lacy made a catch and got hammered but held on to the ball. I think it gave us 3rd and manageable. It wasn’t that critical of a play but I thought it showed this is a different team.
Didn’t see the game. Is Rick’s getting any significant playing time? I figured he would do well at Alabama.
I sincerely do not understand why people think the oil industry should be denied as much profit margin as they can achieve. What other industry/service is asked to keep their profits in a similar range?

Go see the staircase at Loretta Chapel in Sante Fe.
What do you think the price oil(gasoline) would be today if Trump had been reelected? At the beginning of the pandemic oil prices collapsed and drilling stopped. Demand collapsed. As things opened back up the supply was not there due to the high decline rates of "shale" wells. At the same time, investors in shale wells saw that their ROI was not what they were expecting and investment money was slowing down.

Now the current administration has done everything they can to discourage oil and gas exploration. They have created a toxic attitude in the oil and gas industry. But even with Trump in office I think we are still looking at oil prices in the $80-100 range. I don't care how many leases are available to drill on if you can't find people to work on the drilling rigs.

It is the perfect storm.
