Why the new Big XII is a myth or a huge mistake...

If the Big XII goes to 10 teams, they cannot have a Conference Championship game...while the new Big Ten (with 12 teams can)...
so what happens is that while the SEC and Big Ten have their Championship games...Texas and OU have to sit by for 2 weeks and wait until the Bowl bids come out...
that potentially can have an effect on how the final BCS ballots are determined....
If a Big Ten or SEC team was on the bubble about being #1 or #2...an impressive win the Champ game can be the deciding factor...
Texas and OU would have to sit by....

There were reports that Mack and Stoops weren't big fans of the conference title game. They'd probably be more than happy to see it gone and a new conference format in place

if they stay at 10 teams they probably go to a 9 game round robin too... so that's lost home gates on top of no revenue from a Big 12 CCG

agree 100% but Mack and Stoops aside, BCS voters will see the joke that that conference would become..
right?

...and it's not just that....
it's the tv revenue that a conference championship makes for the league.
1) there are less teams in the conference now
2) besides texas and oklahome, what other conference games are worth national exposure?
3) someone needs to explain how in the hell can a tv deal in that conference generate more money then when they had nebraska and colorado
4)two less teams, no conference championship game, but yet, ut is basically saying that the teams will make even more tv money..
this is just stupid...aTm needs to tell UT and whatever that conference is that...."we are doing this for us (aTm)....we are not doing this to hurt you.....we are doing it for the same reason nebraska and colorado did.
....and then wave bye bye

Not necessarily. I think that leagues without a championship game are allowed to have regular season games during that last week of the season.
Of course, the chances of it being a high-stakes game that helps out OU or Texas are slim and none.

I know the Red River shootout has traditionally been played during the TX State Fair, but move it to the last game of the season - early December - and either play it home and home or at Jerry's World. That could draw some high ratings numbers, especially if it was for the BigX championship and a BCS berth.

Let's be honest....no coaches like title games. It gives them another opportunity to lose. The schools like them though because they make a lot of money off of them.
Whether there is or isn't a conference game isn't up to the coaches, so their opinions don't really matter.

Seems to me the Big 10 actually benefited and got an unworthy OSU into the title game a few times strictly as a result of them not having to play in a conference champ game. I would think the same thing could apply here. It might be easier for a texas or OU to cruise through their weak conference unscathed and not have to worry about a Nebraska waiting to ambush them in a conference game. Might be just what they need to get them into more MNC games.

It would be better than that current Pac 10 over the last decade with 2 elite teams instead of 1. It would likely be more favorable to OU and Texas that the old format assuming they keep the BCS bid, which I would think they would.

No coaches like it if their team has nothing to gain and everything to lose like Texas did. I'm sure Pelini didn't feel the same way as Brown. LSU in 07 benefited from the SEC championship game.

Both have uneasy flashes of KSU and NU.
Truth is, if it's close between either one of them and an SEC team before SECG, they won't be anywhere but SECs rear view mirror after champ game.
