Was it Kirk? Might want to wait for confirmation...

texas a&m is already in talks with SEC, per ESPN right now, but Rick Perry is going to fight to keep A&M in conference.
Texas and Texas A& M will never split. They're a package deal. 1210 AM was playing an interview last night of a writer with the Austin Statesman. He basically said that Texas and A&M won't join the SEC because it's academically inferior to the PAC 10, which has more members belonging to the Assoc. of American Universities. The SEC has only 2 members to the AAU, Vandy and Florida I think.

Not Kirk, but Chip Brown in Austin....

This is very true. In decimal 16 == hexadecimal 10. They're name would actually be correct. Damn, they planned this the whole time.

Look who's in that association - looks as though they don't care much for schools from southern states (We all know that Florida is New Jersey south)(Georgia Tech was just admitted this year).

I was listening to Gotllieb(sp)on the way to work and almost wrecked when the dude from Orange bloods said the big 12 was dead. The SEC needs to make a move sooner than later. It looks like Kansas and Mizzou are going to be on the outside looking in without a home (Baylor also) Kansas brings a lot to the table as far as basketball.

Is the PAC 10 six teams a done deal? Will this come into effect this season? If so...what will it do to scheduling for this season..schedules would all have to changing, including lsu if we were to add teams to the west right?

think of the increased costs for all of the mens and womens teams. Football and mens basketball are moneymakers for most to those schools, I imagine. But the rest will of the sports will really eat into those profits with the increased cost of travel.

No changes would happen until next football season.

Road games in the new Pac-16 are going to suck. Imagine living in College Station and having to go up to Washington and Oregon twice a year. They don't fly the football equipment do they?

SEC has to make a move. Its all about market share and revenue. B10 and PAC10 just trumped the SEC. It has no choice but to go after schools that increase revenue and market share. No choice.

Texas is a bunch of pussies. I would love to see LSU kick those Longhorn asses every year. Well at least we don't have to listen to that stupid hook'em chant.

Who is really left for the SEC though?
FSU would be a great candidate. We could snag ACC teams for Basketball but as far as Football goes, it looks weak. Kansas? Missouri? I don't think so.
Big East doesn't make sense geographically and I'm not sure they have anyone in that conference that fits the SEC. Got to be the ACC where SEC snags its share.

You mentioned Florida State - the ACC also has Virginia Tech which would be a great football fit in the SEC.

The SEC is behind the curve here. Looks like the PAC10 and B10 just jumped ahead.
Heard the SEC has been in talks with A&M, but looks like it was in vain. UNC would be a huge plus for baskeball. My guess is the SEC will take some of or all of FSU, Miami, GT, Clemson. ACC will raid the B East.
Still looks like the PAC10 will be sitting pretty.

Acc is more of a Basketball conference but they use to be a dominate Football conference at the height of FSU/Miami's prime. They got some teams in the ACC that would bring in good market share, IMO. Is anybody even willing to join the SEC though?
Miami usually has good Baseball teams too...

If SEC makes any change at all they will have to keep potential tv revenue in mind. That also means FSU, Miami, Clemson, GaTech might be less attractive than UNC, VaTech etc.
One thing is very obvious from Pac10/Big 10 expansion, its all about money.
