Bama officials "crying"

because of a scheduling "quirk", six of the eight SEC foes facing bama will have an off week prior to playing them, including LSU who will be off prior to the november game in TS. Bama wants something done, this year, and are crying at the SEC meetings. man they want everything...i remember LSU had this happen to them, not as many games, but there were three or four teams they played that had been off the week prior, it just happens that way.

Is this any different crying than when this story was posted 2 months ago?

What the gumps don't realize is the conference office does not determine off weeks. The individual schools fill out their schedules and determine off weeks. We could have had an off week before any of the following games: Vandy, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss. All those weeks were open after we got our official conference schedule. Then it's up to the team to fill in their 4 out-of-conference games into the five open slots. What ever is left in the end is the "open week".
Edit to say: Bama is claiming to the SEC office that they are at a competitive disadvantage and everyone should be on an even playing field. Of coarse, it is impossible for everyone to be even when LSU is the only team in the SECwest that has to play Florida every year.

Having an off week doesn't necessarily give you an advantage...it can hurt or it CAN help you....sometimes teams that are on a roll...kool off...just like in baseball...if you are hitting, you don't want a full week of no games...

i don't think an off week never hurts and i sure wouldn't to play a team or teams coming off a bye

Someone actually posted the stats a few months ago when this was discussed here. Bama really has had about twice as many games as anyone else in the conference against teams coming off their bye week. I don't really give a frick, and I hope that trend continues, but I just wanted to post the facts.

Bama also has an open date before the LSU game this season.
Saban already switched a couple of games to give himself open dates before key games while at Alabama.
They can go F themselves.

well the conference office is in Birmingham, they should just use their connections to fix this like everything else (like having good ol boys in the replay booth)

Perhaps the best statement that I have ever read on the rant!!!

And every team in the East has to play Florida every year, so what's your point. Good teams don't shy away from competition.

quote:The point is...it is impossible for everything to be totally even and Bama should STFU. So, they have to play more teams coming off a bye this year. Big deal...most years, they have an easier road to the SECCG than LSU and we are not crying to the SEC office. Our permanent opponent in the SECeast has gone 23-1 the last two years while theirs has gone 12-12. That's not exactly the "even playing field" like they claim to be looking for.

Beat them then. That'll end your argument.
