A CNN reporter is saying the oil is there but al.com is only referring to a few tar balls....so what is the real deal?

I wonder why no pics? My home is on Orange Beach but I am in Los Angeles, no phone calls yet of oil there. I just wonder if this is a few tarballs or a total mess. Either way I think it is coming...

Yes its coming. Unfortunately.

This is a disaster of proportions of which we have never seen here in the Gulf area.

While that may be true one day, as of today Katrina was far worse

I stand corrected. Phone calls just started and there is oil on the beach. Hopefully, we will be spared some and it will only be small amounts. Either way there is more behind it. I don't think I will swim in the gulf this year and that sucks. It sucks much worse for the fisherman/shrimpers/drillers in Louisiana but it still stings.

I am sorry fwiw. I realized after I posted that you were referring to stock quotes not my lack of quoting the previous post. I am the arsehole here.

Katrina is nothing compared to this, even if leak stopped last week it's damage is far worse.

I think the loss of human life with Katrina coupled with the devastation of that economy might trump the damage thus far with the spill IMO.
