Has anymore progress been made on getting these berms built? It seems all the berm idea has been is an idea the politicians are able to yell and scream about, and eventually back down over. John Young and Nungess both last week said how we absolutely needed these berms built, and they would ask their respective city councils to appropriate the money to get these things built. But a week goes by and nothing, and by the way both said they didn't care the feds had a problem with this and would go at it alone if they had to.

And as an added kicker John Kennedy has been screaming all along the state would be another resource for the money should the parishes not want to fork it out at this point.

Nungesser seemed to come out a new man after meeting with Obama! Either he can't see when deception is right in front of him or a tingly thing took place there.

supposedly someone from the White house gave him a direct phone number to call if he needed anything. I think basically he is trying to put pressure for BP to pay for this. I dont see why people of his parish or our state should have to vote to pay for it. I hope he keeps screaming. So far BP is responsible to pay for 2% of the project.

This is something that Plaq and the state have wanted to do for a long time to help with coastal erosion etc.

It will also help keep oil out, but it gives the state and locals a way to get BP to pay for something that they cannot really afford.

But if it was in place it would have done some good.

The fricking sand levee will wash away in 2 weeks, and the WH knows this. Nungessor needs to shut his fat face and get to work. Leaders lead by action, not by runnng and crying to TV and radio stations trying to be a hero. Shut your fat fricking mouth and start cleaning the marshes. Quit worrying about shite that you cant control. The levee's are not going to work for the long term, they will be washed away before your next meal.

The sand berns may in fact wash away in less than a month. However if you don't live, work , or fish in lower Plaquemines you don't have the same sense of urgency Nungesser has as he watches the entire lower delta succumb to the worst manmade disaster of our time. His passion is real and its obvious he could care less whos feelings he hurts as he pleads for help. Obviously his people would like to see something done(booms not working) other than wait months for BP to plug the leak. He's not concerned about his politcal career because without any marsh there is no Plaquemines parish to be president of. I'm impressed with his candid and honest approach.

Nungesser/Jindal made a big mistake IMO when they started mentioning that the sand berm would be helpful with hurricane protection
