Some argue that since LA is their homestate, high school football players should be loyal to their state and attend the flagship university (LSU) if offered- epscially if they plan to return to LA. Some might go as far as to say it is an obligation. I disagree and say that is foolish thinking. What say you?

If people really think that, then they are contradicting themselves when they want out-of-state kids to attend their school.

Can we ask the same thing about every 5* player in the country and USC?

I personally think this is a totally bs argument and I am a proud grad of LSU. I'm not a parent yet, but I would want my son to go to the school where:

(a) he could get the best education
(b) where he had the best chance to have his talent developed and receive the best coaching

If I were a parent right now and my son had offers from both LSU and Bama I would support his decision either way. But if my son solicited my advice, I'd tell him to sign with Bama because I honestly believe that he would receive better coaching/development and the education would be about the same.

I think it should definately be their first choice... But if another school benefits them more then Go for it...

frick that. i'd certainly support any decision my son made; however, no way in hell would i "advise" him to go to a rival school, regardless of the present state of the programs.

+1

Condon knows his callers are dumbasses and shapes his show around getting them pissed off enough to call in daily.

A kid can go anywhere he wants, but seems a wise move to play for a state school if he plans to return to the home state after school.

Not that he's doomed if he doesn't, but it does vastly improve his options within the state.

I am 63 have been a fan forever, my grandson is going next year, no I cannot understand someone going to another school, unless this was a terrible program.
I would not stop my grandson from going to another school of course, but would be disappointed. One aspect would be to travel to see him play.

I thought I'd always overwhelmingly push my kids to LSU, but I've grown away from that. Whatever opportunity gives them the best future is where I want them to go. If they are playing CFB, go where they have best opportunity to play, develop, be coached, and go pro. If not playing, I already tell my kids choose the best school for your area of interest.

Considering I life in Florida, and have 3 children, I'd think odds on that one of them attends UF.

sorry might have to disagree with ya on that one although those two states have more talent population wise louisiana produces more NFL talent per capita so that by itself would put us somewhere in the picture

WTF?

If you raised your kid as a tiger your kid should want to come to LSU over Bama. Your comment on coaching/development is just a load of crap. LSU has put plenty of guys in the pros under Miles at every position.

who the F*ck are you people on here. Stating i would send my son to UF or i would send mine to bamma because of better opertunity or better development. Get the hell out of here with that noise... Neither bamma or Uf have anything more to offer a potential student athlete in comparison to LSU, with exception to possibly the plethora of douchebags that roam their campus.
