In other threads ... not that I myself care if it's in other posts but I do like to give out warnings!

Nope. People are overeacting. It may kill a few baby seals and ruin a few vacations, but drilling will go on. Life will go on.

I agree... 2 diff. types of disasters that will affect this country differently with this spill being the worst in the long run.

No. 1300 people died in Katrina. As much as the looming ecological disaster saddens me, Katrina's huge loss of human life is paramount in my eyes.

i think the fear over the dispersants is relatively unfounded and the containment box should have the well capped by the weekend. alot of cleanup should be done in the meantime.

of course if the containment box doesn't work all bets are off.

What Moreorless said, except if it takes 2-3 months to stop, the environmental damage will be substanially worse than most estimates.

Too early to say, but I think its possible. I would say yes if the predictions of 3 months before the well gets stopped. I say this because with katrina as bad as it was you can rebuild. If the nighmare senario did happen with the spill, you just can't rebuild the marsh and coastal areas.

No way bro.

Katrina destroyed thousands of homes and businesses.

The cost of this will be high in dollars. But Katrina had a devastating human impact that this does not have.

I really don't think so, but it's way too early to tell. If it goes unchecked for the months that some are predicting it certainly could end up worse.

However, it's also apples and oranges to some degree.
