Firefly only one season? Its better than Lost.

I have only watched one show on TV on a regular basis and that is lost. Now you cant really compare the two, but I saw FireFly staring at me in my net flicks one day and watched the first episode. Now a week later I own the first and only season on DVD and the Movie Serenity and I have a T-shirt.
What the hell? why did this not survive?!

Jericho was the shite too, but alas it didn't survive. Its because the general public are big dumb animals.

If you don't know that Jericho is about, it is about a small town in remote Kansas having to deal with the shite hitting the fan by more than 20 cities getting nuked. The first season was great. The second trial season moved way too fast and focused too much on the politics and not on survival for my tastes.

Truth is Firefly was doomed from the start. Rather than airing the pilot first, Fox decided to air "The Train Job", so those who did tune in had no idea what was happening. Fox then continued to show the episodes out of order, bumped a few episodes for sporting events, and half-way through the season there was no doubt it would be cancelled. Like Family Guy, after Firefly's cancellation the DVD sales went through the roof, forcing Fox to bring it back, only in the form of a movie, rather than renewing the series.
Also check out the Serenity comic books titled "Those Left Behind" and "Better Days" which covers all the ground between the series and the movie.

i love lost, as most of you know... i will have to check out firefly...
i just hate the fact that shows like these only get 1 or 2 seasons. Makes me salivate for so much more.

The only reason I'm glad firefly got cancelled is dollhouse, whedon's latest show on fox. Did any of you see that? Different stories but a lot of similar elements and characters to equate to from one to the other. By the series finale, dollhouse was absolute garbage. I hated it. I'm glad that didn't happen with firefly.

Other than the rushed last couple of episodes (which is completely forgivable so that they could wrap it up), Dollhouse's second season was stellar.

The key words were "by the series finale" in my post. Would you rather have an awesome movie like serenity to close out the story, or have that ridiculous 10-year jump to a doomsday future with reaver-wannabe people running around and echo with a gray streak that was a straight rogue knockoff?
