Look at the games he played when we had a running game. Mostly the Arkansas game and Ga Tech game from a year ago. He played well and we should have won both. Stupid arse defensive penalties killed us against Arkansas.

I don't care who you have, drew brees, whoever. If you don't have a running game, you will not be successful. Only qb that comes to mind is Peyton. I can't think of anyone else.

If JJ had a running game, he would be a much better qb.

Had success before without a running game. Just didn't always translate into wins.

Not a good comparison btw.

Most people think that it's JJ's self-inflicted problems that give cause and concern. Everyone will give him a pass for poor O-line protection. However, some of the poor accuracy in passing, and poor decision-making is what makes people concerned about his / LSU's future.

This is like a chicken/egg argument.

Without a passing game, no one will respect the pass and will put enough people in the box to make the running game nonexistent. Until you can show you can pass ... forget about a running game.

The one thing I notice about JJ is that he can hit a man when there is a breakdown in the secondary and we have a WR running wide open. Or, when a TE just does a quick in-route and is wide open.

He seems unable to read a defense and fit the ball in any possible "tight" spot that all QBs must do if you are going to have a successful running game.

From my perspective, the kid just doesn't have it upstairs to be even a decent SEC QB.

Look, most are just looking at his lake of pocket presence as well as shitty footwork. He bails out like Aaron Brooks. No running game will make the guy fundamentally sound.

Having a good running game will not overcome a teams QB being dumb as a brick bat.

FAIL.

Normally you would be correct. But our offense is so bad, teams STACK THE LINE to stop the run. DARING us to pass it. Even with single coverage on 2-3 WRs Jordan Jefferson STILL CAN NOT complete passes.

You actually have it completely backwards - IF we had ANY sort of passing game, our running game would take off. That said, I still hope that JJ has hit rock bottom after embarrassing himself last year and in the spring game. There is no where to go but up.

We had one of the best running corps in the country... dumb statement. If he could throw the ball it would have improved our ability to utilize those great backs.

He's part of the reason we don't have a running game. Almost anybody can stop the run if they know they don't have to worry about a deep passing game.

nothing wrong with jj.

only problem i've ever had was you had a kid that had a year of experience and was scoring you 30 points a game, then he got hurt.

jj came in and played one good half in 2 1/2 games and they jumped on him, now you have a guy in his first year again, instead of his second. now neither is as developed as they should be going into this year.

that said i think jj is a solid qb. i think when he gets with this running game we have this year, he will excell.

the only concern i have is will he make the right reads when the game is on the line, with less than 5 to play in the game? time will tell.

JJ?

Who's beotching about JJ?

I think people are disappointed with his lack of progress and his lack of understanding for what he is expected to do.

Miles' future, and it is his responsibility, is hingeing on a guy who has proven to be clueless.
JJ does not "get it," and neither does Miles.

a running game isn't gonna give him a quicker release, faster decision making ability, or accuracy on the long ball.

Another pointless thread on an overused subject. There must be a dozen on the same topic since the spring game. Give it a rest.

Our running suffered with JL too. Remember CS starting to get a little Heisman buzz, then teams found out JL couldn't read defenses and piled up the line of scrimmage daring him to throw and he did...to them. So let's be fair about this, both have shown some bad tendencies. JJ is suffering from a lack of confidence himself. When he's confident he's on, when he ain't, he ain't.

Yeah just dont ever mention Brees and JJ in the same sentence, I know your not actually comparing them rather just their situations, and Brees did not have a running game the year before, a whopping 90 yds/gm

Hey Weaver, he needs more than a running game to be a good QB. Freaking wake up!

Just shut up. When have YOU felt confident he could win the game if it is on him? I feel that way everytime Brees steps on the field. he is a leader and makes everyone around him better.
IMO He doesn't make anyone around him better.
