If he doesnt go, it looks like it would be huge news for us. If he does go, hopefully Mack scares him off trying to get him to commit on the spot or bugger off

Basically what he said was he'd be there if he could find a ride. Not sure what his family situation is or anything more than just that statement.

Rasco is not near as a "must get" as Anthony Johnson, Quinton Thomas, Mickey Johnson and Chuck Hunter. These guys can all play inside and Quinton Thomas can be moved to DE.
Getting Ego Ferguson and Sam Montgomery will ease the blow. Not to mention if he goes to Texas he will be sitting behind an enormous amount of talent at that position and we probably will never have to play against him. It wont be the same as losing him to Bama, Auburn or another SEC school.

Saying all that, there is alot of talent at that position on our radar in the 2011 class and we have these guys to look forward too:
Justin Maclin
Barkevious Mingo
Sam Montgomery
Ego Ferguson
Lavar Edawards
Chancey Aghayere
Chase Clement

All these guys are extremely talented and will ease the blow.

These are the positions we need to worry about securing "beasts" at:
DT
CB
LB
WR
QB

You're being sarcastic right?

quote:

Justin Maclin - Will be tried at LB first, so it's not certain he will be moved
Barkevious Mingo - Hopefully put on some weight or will always be a good pass rush OLB
Sam Montgomery - His only real competition, can't wait to see him play
Ego Ferguson - Different type of DE as Rasco is. May even move inside at some point
Lavar Edawards - Didn't do a lot last year, and I think I read where he may go inside to DT
Chancey Aghayere - Underperformed as well, but still provides someone at the position
Chase Clement - He still has proving to do

That's how I think they are, and anyone of Rasco's talent, especially from Louisiana, is a "Must Get"

You're nuts. Rasco is exactly the DE we need because we have so few on the team like him. Right now, the only true speed rushing DE we have is Montgomery and he still needs weight/proving to do...

You know that Mack will send someone down there to get him if getting a ride is the problem for him

Unless JC Copeland puts on some serious weight, he has that burst and size to play the pash rush DE position. His highlight tape showed explosion off the ball like no one I have seen the last few years. Plus his sack #'s from the tackle position are unreal.

Rasco is a big need because of talent, position and perception. He's very talented(even though I'm not as big on him as others),we need his style of DE and we don't want people saying we are losing our hold on the state. We could offer 16 in state kids and land 15 but the one if it's Rasco will be the one that the "experts" talk about because he got away.Especially that jackass Shurburtt.Same thin with Reed this past cycle. No one talked about the guys like Mathieu,Reid,Vinson,Simon and Allen that we got only the one that got away.More newsworthy i guess.

Rasco is a Player I'd love lsu to get but if we don't there are other guys we can go after. I hate losing a Louisiana guy of his talent to any school but it won't bethe end of the world.

I'm more concerned with DT, CB, LB, WR and QB. Ego and Montgomery will help me get over Rasco easier though.

Don't get me wrong, I really want Rasco and would love seeing him in P&G.

In an article from last Summer his coach claims he was at 258 in the Spring and even talked about it slowing down his straight line speed a little. Judging from more recent pics and video it wouldn't be a stretch to say he is around 270.

looks like getting there and which junior day he will try to attend are still questions that have not been answered.

quote:

•Jermauria Rasco, Shreveport (LA) Evangel Christian defensive end (pending ride)

Shep's little brother is going to be at their second junior day:
quote:

•Nick Shepard, Houston Cy Ridge safety

LINK

Here is another link that has Rasco discussion and info on many 2011 Texas recruits. The guy who wrote this thinks LSU will try to sign some of these kids: the running backs, Flowers

quote:

DE (2) Jermauria Rasco is the Evangel DE that will be targeted by every street agent program in the SEC. Apparently likes Texas a lot, but getting a kid out Louisiana when LSU badly wants him is the toughest play in recruiting. At least he’s not in South Lousiana. Cedric Reed is a guy we’ll battle LSU for and there are a number of other solid types here. DE Lance Skyler has an Orakpo frame. If you’re looking for an early commit sleeper, that’s a good name. We may use some of the LBs below to create DEs.

quote:

Everyone in the Big 12 (and TCU, Stanford, Minnesota, Arizona, LSU, Arkansas) is going to get a good RB from Texas

LINK

These writers are the guys that bark about "street agents" so don't get too mad when you read their crap.

Our objective becomes clear: keep Jermauria Rasco from being able to find a ride to Texas.

Doesn't really matter if he makes this Junior Day or the next one. If he goes to UT on the 20th he will be at LSU's next Junior Day. He will make plenty of visits to each program.

I would say it definitely would help us A HUGE TON if he didn't go to either Texas junior day. Do you understand how many kids leave those things committed? If there's 1 thing Mack is good at it's getting kids to commit early and right then.

Rasco will not commit early. His mentor will make sure he plays it out.
