Is Indy of the 00's the Braves of the 90's?

Think about it. In the playoffs every year, yet only 1 Super Bowl victory. Colts arguably had the best QB of the 00's, the Braves had the best pitching staff during much of the 90's (Not every year, but over the entire decade).

Thoughts?

The Braves owned the NL during the '90s. You can't say the Colts owned the AFC during the 00's, so they weren't as close to winning as many championships - the Braves were a game away in '91 and they had a 2-0 lead on the road in '96.

False, the 90's Braves didn't have a 00's Patriots to deal with.

Late 90s Yankees>>>00's Patriots. The early 90s Blue Jays were pretty loaded as well.

They probably have under achieved, but it's harder to repeat in football. Having a playoff game instead of a playoff series makes it harder for the top teams to separate from the lesser teams.

First off, I think the Colts' window in the 2010's is still open. I mean, Manning isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The receiving and running back corps are still young. The defensive backfield is young. The line coaches in Indy are some of the best around, and it's not like Caldwell sucks.

Honestly, I would expect to see Indy back in the SB next year before the Saints (who have over 20+ that need to be re-signed).

Anyway, the Braves had a habit of choking. They pissed away some NLCSs against the Marlins, Mets, Padres and Phillies. Their only WS win was against a perrenial choke-artist in Cleveland. I won't fault them for losing to the Yanks, just as I won't really fault Indy for losing to the Pats.

At least when Indy broke through, they crashed the gate on their nemesis. It's not like Atlanta tore up the yankees in a World Series, so that holds SOME weight to me.

The Braves also had some series where they were pretty much dominated beginning to end...2001 Arizona, and I think a series against either the Cards or Giants.

i actually think that cleveland team they did beat was the best they faced in the series. they were awesome. the braves then go choke against the weakest of the yankee teams in 96. i still think the braves are bigger chokers than the colts

Ive followed the Tribe for along time, they choke. Simply put.

They blew a 3-1 against Boston in the 2007 ALCS...and by blew, I mean got the hammer dropped on them in 3 straight games to close it out.

Jose Mesa fricked them in the 1997 World Series...even though he was the saves leader that year.

They also got skullfricked by the Sawx with a 2-0 series lead in a best of fiver in 1999.

So yeah, despite the fact the Indians were an astounding 100-44 in the post-strike shortened season...they STILL were going to lose.

Can we have an MSB moritorium of simply parroting some prominent blog's opinion and then presenting it as their own? You could at least link to Simmons if you're gonna steal his line.

I think we would have won it that year! Everyone in the line-up hit 300 or better. That team had it all.

4 MVP's, 1 Superbowl

Brees should have won the MVP this year.

One would think. They could just kill the ball...any hitter in that lineup was a long ball threat, even guys like Paul Sorrento. I mean, when your 7-hole hitter has like 25 jacks, you know your lineup is a beast.

The pitching staff that year was also pretty underrated. But then you have a guy like Glavine one-hitting that same kickass lineup...

I have no idea who Simmons is or what you are talking about. Maybe we just both thought the same thing.
