Yep CT it is. Lot has to do with the Fox affiliate in shreveport who happens to be a big Dallas Fan. Most of the people I know in Shreveport have been in a big meltdown about this for sometime.

Why do S. La like to start this crap because Shreveport has some Cowboys fans. Shreveport is hardly N.La

You cant speak to cajuns like regular people. Years of inbreeding has eroded their DNA and makes them forget that the only reason they live in Louisiana is that their ancestors were ran off from their previous home.

yes it technically should... the "New Orleans" taxpayers can't support "their" team, unlike the majority of the other NFL franchises where the city is responsible for taxes for new stadiums, etc... Benson holds the entire state hostage every few years and the entire "Louisiana" taxbase is held responsible... so technically they should be the Louisiana Saints b/c everybody is helping foot the bill that New Orleans can't cover.

Louisiana Saints don't have the same ring as New Orleans Saints.

I've lived around or in NOLA off and on all my life. While I don't embrace the city like many people do (I'm just not a city person) they don't need to change the franchise name. The New Orleans tag on the Saints give the team and fans the flair that people love to see. When you think of New Orleans you think of Bourbon Street, Mardi Gras, Jazz, etc. Things that are easily seen at the Superdome.

You change it to Louisiana, your mindset will go to swamps/bayous, gators, etc. Next thing you know, the colors will change and the name will to, and the team will be moved to Baton Rouge. Stop the frickin madness now.

Let's face it..... to the outside world, New Orleans is the only civilized spot in the state.... it's where the planes land. New Orleans has the "allure" that makes people want to come down here. They don't give a hoot about BR, LAF, SHRVPT, LC.

Keep it "New Orleans Saints".

Gulf Coast Saints if it had to change.

+1000. I don't understand why Baton Rouge and Lafayette always get off so easy and everybody bashes only Shreveport.

Baton Rouge isn't filled with Cowboy fans

Baton Rouge - nice job on like 2,000 people going to a Hornets/Suns game you preppy chain-restaurant eating assholes.

I don't think any of us are admitting to being diehard hornets fans, i'm admittedly a bandwagon hornets fan. But its kind of tough to blame BR for the Saints attendence in BR. The city was dealing with the entire influx of New Orleans into BR and Katrina after affect. Then couple that with the team being bad, and thats a recipe for 30000 fans in the stands. FWIW, I went to 2 of the 4 games in Tiger Stadium

Dude, the stench in that town apparently becomes part of someone if they spend enough time there. Ignorance was easier to handle, b/c Im from Louisiana and was used to it, just not on the scale as it is down there.

There is no way in hell that I can sign off on Louisiana Saints....I realize the team has fans throughout the state and region, but these are the New Orleans Saints. Take or leave it, tinker somewhere else.....

Mississippi and Alabama need to start chipping in on the bills then. We pay just as much as you do. I don't think the name should be changed, but the arrogance in this thread is pathetic.

How would it piss of anyone from the Great State of Mississippi or Alabama if it changes from NO to LA.. Last time I checked, New Orleans wasn't in Mississippi or Alabama.

Sorry JJ, as good as that sounds anyone can be a fan of any team that they want, in spite of what quite a few retards on here think.

Haven't gone threw 6 pages yet, but really Gulf coast Saints would be fitting kind of like the New England (Boston) Patriots. It will always be Our team (New Orleans), It's also our team the (the gulf coast region). There are a lot of diehards from Lafayette to Pensacola..............
