I watched an epic OT victory last week by St. George over St. Jude (8th grade men's team). It was payback for last year's upset by St. Jude that ruined St. G's perfect season.

Rouge, I thought you hated CSAL analysis. Anyways, here you go:
Most Underrated Team: St. Alphonsus - Alphonsus may be the most aggressive team defensively in all of CSAL. They play full court in your face man to man d. Its pretty much 24 minutes of hell. If you didn't know any better, you would think that Nolan Richardson is on the sidelines.
Most Overrated Team: Redemptorist - Redemptorist boasts 4 players above 6'2. They were blown out recently by Ascension Catholic and lost to Catholic High by 6 last night in a rowdy game in which 2 Redemptorist parents were thrown out.
Revised Bracketology for the Elite 8: (Previous ranking in parenthesis)
1. St. George (1) - Led by their undersized point guard, they are still the best team in the league
versus
8. St. Aloysius (8) - I am pretty sure that Aloysius cloned one player to fill an entire team. Their team is all one size, has the same haircut, same skills, etc...
4. Sacred Heart (3) - Sacred Heart can go into spurts where they are unable to score and turn the ball over a lot. They have the athletic ability to hang with any team.
versus
5. St. Alphonsus (unr) - The surprise team of the league so far.
3. OLOM (5) - Mercy has a bunch of huge kids who hit the glass hard
versus
6. Ascension Catholic (unr) - Ascension Catholic looks to make their second tournament in 5 years. Has key wins over STM, CHS and Redemptorist.
2. St. Jude (2) - Led by a former LSU great QB, they are a team that can adapt to all styles
versus
7. St. Jean Vianney (unr) - SJV's coach may be up for coach of the year. They run flex like former great STM teams.
Just Out:
STM - Suffered a bracket buster loss to Ascension Catholic. This team lacks some luster.
Catholic - Has some big wins in division play, but is winless in 2 tournaments

I don't believe a date has been set yet. It is usually in early March.

STM does have a strong alumni base. The new coach runs a different system than they have ran their for years. I can't imagine that sits well with the Eagle Pride. I know there are a few STM alumni that post on here that could answer better than myself.
As an expert analyst, I stay neutral.

I know his system isn't sitting too well with some of my buddies from the Class of '85.

with all due respect to the alums but who really is gonna care who beat who in a couple of years? so a team beat a team in MIDDLE SCHOOL basketball? college coaches dont look at middle school records or stuff. they only look at how good a player plays for their high school and what summer camps they went to to get recognition. Im just trying to BE HONEST

Why do you feel it necessary to go out of your way to try to prove that middle school basketball is not important? I don't think anyone ever said it was on the level with college.
FWIW I don't care either and only got in this thread because I was surprised to see it.

amen brotha
i just think all this talk is taking away the fun and experience of playing for middle school and putting too much pressure on them to play like duke or mississippi state is recruiting them
