Arizona was pretty balanced under Dykes. Obviously he runs the spread and passes a bit more, but his system isn't like Leach where they're throwing it twice as much as running

Yeah I was just looking at Zona's game stats from last year and they actually did run quite a bit. Even ran for over 300 in one game. Tech doesn't need to get back to the Air Tech days of Rattay, there needs to be some balance there. I'm actually getting more excited about Dykes the more I read up on him

Good thing, because we're built around running the ball right now. Here's to smashing the WAC this year!

I'm all about this right now. I'm listening to Fox and Company talking about the hire and I'm on both TD and BBB reading up on it. Apparently Dykes offense is much more balanced than people think. He had a 1000 yard rusher in 2008 and split carries between a few guys in 2009. Sounds like a good hire.

I really enjoyed watching Tech last year. Their offense was showing some potential. AND they had DANIEL FREAKIN PORTER. Congrats to Tech fans.

I've had the chance to listen to Coach Dykes speak on several occasions and ask him questions about what they do on offense.

They will use the same passing concepts/plays that Texas Tech used but Coach Dykes admitted he has learned to always use your best players to determine the scope of the offense.

At Arizona they had one heckuva TE. They used a TE alot. Whereas, Texas Tech never uses a TE.

He will not do a thousand different things, but become really great on the things they have.

A lot of WR Screens, Quick Passing game, and they will probably, with the personnel left behind, be similar to Arizona by having a strong running game based of the Off-Tackle "Power" play.

Great hire by LA. Tech.

Hes also got ties to Texas which COULD help with recruiting that area
Can he recruit kids to Ruston?? That is the big question...I wish him luck, but I just don't know how much success he can bring there...

Dooley did I don't know why he couldnt. We dont have four star players on our rosters at Tech anyway but for a midmajor we are bringing in alot of 3 stars and that is about the most you can bet on unless you are at a BCS school.

Blah. A lot of the "star ratings" crap is fabricated anyway. If our 3-star QB recruit changes his mind and switches to Texas tomorrow, he'll be a 4-star. The argument is pointless, and recruiting rankings mean nothing.

Plus, I get the "ewww who'd go to Ruston" comment from a lot of idiots, because they look down on North Louisiana so badly. Personally, I can't stand Baton Rouge, so you couldn't have recruited me to go there either. Some kids will like an area like Ruston, some won't.

Duplessis, Fitte, and Livas are going to see a lot of these screens while Compton, Creer, and Morrow destroy the ground (Duplessis will see ground action as well). This year will be a good year to watch tech play.

The talent on this team is underrated my friends.
