Sorry, you are not being a "realist". You are agitating for Miles and his staff to be fired.

I think I've lost two or three IQ points just responding to this thread.

Can we please refocus our energy this morning on the Tennessee Coaching Hire. Miles needs this quiet time to be alone and figure out how to help Crowton.

Defending Miles because he is not Lane Kiffin is lowering the bar significantly. No one should behave as Lane Kiffin does, because Miles doesn't behave like a scum bag is no reason to keep him and doesn't make him a good coach.

No one every seriously mentions Miles to move because no one seriously wants him.

Well by all means...lets keep him on since he's such a nice guy and well mannered.

I hate how relentless negativity is what passes for “realism”. Fine. A realistic assessment of Miles is that he does some things well and some things poorly. He’s won wherever he has been, and was the more successful at Okie St than Jimmy Johnson, who is a pretty good coach from what I hear. He’s won a national title. He’s not some rube, despite what people try and say.

Is he the best coach on earth? Obviously not. His game management is pretty horrible. But he’s a great recruiter (yeah, I know, LSU recruits itself… whatever), he is a decent human being, he seems to be a good boss which has allowed us to attract good assitants (look how easy it was to get Wilson and Gonzales for essentially lateral moves). Am I 100% satisfied? No, of course not. But the people bringing up the “last two years” thing are just manipulating numbers. First, they use an arbitrary cutoff to make him look worse, and then ignore that the team rebounded from 3-5 to 5-3, which is not insignificant. People want to talk about trends and then, well, ignore the trends they don’t like.

I’m just sick of the whiny, negative nancy bullshite. Miles does some things well and he does some things poorly. But who available is better? Patterson has turned everyone down. Edsall’s not leaving Uconn. Ask Colorado about hiring a successful Boise St. coach. The grass is not always greener. Ask Nebraska about firing their not-successful-enough coach.

Any time someone dares say anything remotely positive, the same morons come in to spout off their “realism”. We get it. Reasonable minds can disagree. Now look around this great wild world and kill yourself.

I do not understand how you people can be so naive. Miles is a good man. Dammit, Gandhi was a good man too and I don't want him as the freaking football coach.

I wouldn't call the point where all of Saban's players are gone an arbitrary cut off.

Some of us can see that. Others, apparently, will never be able to.

What I see is some here who can't stand to have anyone post anything that might in anyway express satisfaction/support of Coach Miles in any aspect whatsoever without them pizzing on it in some way.

It's really not that hard to see this is the case, people.

Guess what, fella, that goes both ways. This thread was started basically calling out people who do not worship the ground Leslie works on.

You can't have it both ways.

When coaches move in or out it is always quiet, and then the move happens. There has been virtually no public drama in any movement of a Miles assistant. Come to think of it, there is very little psycho-drama at all. These issues are generally handled quietly and with class.

The same thing cannot be said about the recent moves at Tennessee, USC, Notre Dame, and Florida.

Miles appears to treat his assistants well. Decisions are made on the inside. This Tiger fan very much appreciates this aspect of Miles' manner.

Fire Nick Saban??
Apparently some people have designs on seeing LSU Head Coach Nick Saban getting the boot. Someone registered www.firenicksaban.com. Either they don't like the direction LSU is heading, or they are a Bears/Falcons/NFL fan staking out their future claim. (Domain Lookup service available here.)

The first post was neither a "call out" or expecting people to "worship the ground" Miles walks on. It was simple expression of satisfaction in the way Miles handles coaching changes. This is not a case of someone "wanting it both ways."

Hey, you guys are all right. We are all wrong. I'm going to be there every game cheering on the Tigers.

And when we lose to NC, WV, Auburn, Bama, Florida, Arkansas and whoever else, I'm gonna pat Les on the head and say, "Don't worry, we're ready to return to 'our place' in college football."

Golly gee, thanks guys for helping me see the error of my ways.

I feel swell now. You got any Ovaltine?

Yes, and it is in this manner we got co-defensive coordinators and an offense that is the worst in LSU football history.

This is probably aimed at the folks who dislike his style of hiring/firing assistants.
Maybe, but frankly I haven't seen anybody criticizing the manner in which he manages/hires/fires his staff. People first and foremost criticize his inability to coach/make decisions during a game and also many are critical of his inability to pull the trigger on under performing staff and/or hire the wrong people to begin with. So, it is fair to weigh in on such an issue because I doubt the op is only mentioning this one positive attribute to counter claims that his 'manner' is respectable. That is not revelant to wins and losses at this point.

And it's in this manner that you got RID of co-defensive coordinators, as well.

Well said, Baloo.

Thanks, pop. Reading the Rant right now is like watching 12 year old girls whine about Hannah Montana go off the air. The level of Chicken Little woe-is-me whining is off the charts.
