Question for the wise - Idiots need not apply

I, like everyone. have witnessed our coachs do some really stupid things this year. I also listen to the babble that Les has to say at his painful press conferences as well as his weekly show. I, like many, often wonder about his intelligence level; even though he has a Masters from Mich. So here is what I have a hard time understanding.
Why does BM come here? I mean he left Florida to come work for Les. Ok, maybe he knew Urban was leaving; but if Miles is the idiot many of us believe why come here? BM is well respected around the coaching profession for his coaching ability as well as his recruiting. Several schools tried to get him with more money and he stayed at Florida. Maybe he was promised the OC job after Crowton is canned? But still why come work for an idiot like Miles?
Also, why did Wilson come here? Everyone can't stop saying what a great guy Wilson is and how bright he is as a coach and recruiter; but yet he comes to LSU even though he had a great job at Tn. Now I know Wilson is from New Orleans and yada yada yada, but is coming home worth working for an idiot who is going to get run out of town in a year?
I feel like something is missing. Either Miles is not as stupid as he appears, and I will not argue that he does appear pretty damn stupid, or these so called great coaches are not as smart as we think because they are coming to work for an idiot.
I don't know about you, but if I was offered a job to work for someone who I knew was an complete idiot; I think I would pass. Maybe I am wrong, but this shite really has me thinking what the F_ck! I mean coaches talk, you can't tell me BM, FW, Chavis, Cooper, and Brick whom all coached in the SEC didn't know who Les was before they signed up. They all knew what they were getting into and they still came!
Intelligent opinions welcome.

I honestly have no idea. Really makes you wonder if there wasn't some sort of falling out with he and Urban.

Tennessee has their own issues. If Miles gets run in the next year or so Wilson probably has the best chance of getting retained.

I can't give you an answer, but I can tell you that I've been asking myself these very same questions while trying to figure coach Miles out.

BM?
Anyhow, so you base your opinion on coaches accepting jobs at LSU to work under Miles and assume that no one would willingly work for an idiot? Is that the premise?
Think about jobs you've had, think about people you've hired, think about friends/family and their circumstances. People have a few motivating factors when taking a position and weight of each factor is determined individually. Number one is money. Without pay, it isn't a job, it's volunteer work. Next comes potential for advancement most likely - is this job a set up, more profile, can it advance my career for the future. The next criteria usually involves family and stability issues. Will my wife and kids be happy, will I have job security?
So to answer you question, Les Miles has taken care of all of his hires even if he needed them to leave, that's stability. I do not know about BG family, but Wilson wanted to coach at LSU when Saban was coaching. As far as advancement and money, LSU pays as well a anyone and is a high profile job.
Why come work for an idiot? Because even though he's an idiot, you will get paid, advance your career and be taken care of. Simple to me.

I'm sure you meant BG? As in Billy Gonzalez correct? It's an honest mistake.

I rely on my Bro in laws opinion who is a high school head coach.
He seems to think that Assistants know Les is a stand up guy. You look at what he did for Malveto last year. He also believes that Assistants know $abun's assistants hate working for the guy but it helps build their resume. Its all selfish motives that revolve around money. That is what College Football has become all about the money. It is what it is.

I've been wondering the same thing! All I can offer is my opinion, which is that BG is HC in waiting.

you obviously don't know les personally. they arent coming to lsu for his intelligence. les miles treats his assistants very well which has attracted them to LSU instead of staying at florida or tennessee. would you rather work for that a-hole lane kiffin or les. the bottom line is that he might not be the best at coaching but he is the best at recruiting whether it is coaches or players. his personality goes a long way

Repeatedly calling someone an idiot and stupid really weakens your argument.

a big part of miles reputation is his looks and his public speaking ability (or lack thereof). anyone in corporate america knows that one's ability to speak (in meetings with peers, to customers, public speaking engagements, etc) greatly enhances one's career. in some cases, more so than actual performance. additionallly, good public speakers know how to communicate, that is, get a point across where others can understand it. coach miles has great difficulty in doing that. he really struggles with answering questions with clear concise understandable answers. that leads people to think he is either withholding information or doesn't know the answer. (therefore he appears dumb). if you notice, he never says anything bad about any player, coach or anyone. i'm sure he has been schooled as to the legal pitfalls of mispeaking in his open profession and he doesn't want a player to get the wrong idea about any public comment he makes. add all of this together and he comes off goofy. i'll bet he barely passed speech in college. having said all of that, it really doesn't affect his job. i have heard he is very good at one on one communications and that really is what matters. public speaking is powerful, unfortunately, great public speakers look good and are perceived to be smart and it isn't always true.

It does not make any sense. Your comments are spot on.
However, be that as it may, life is a multi-facted thing, inclusive of behind-the-scenes decisions and agreements, psychological posturing and hypothesizing, and miscalucations (ever by the "bright" among the coaching profession)...so who knows what these guys are thinking...
Miles is still far from the coach many thought he was when we where winning 11 and 12 per year.
Miles is a confused, slow-thinking man in "REAL-TIME". I emphasize "REAL-TIME" becuase there is a BIG difference between finite and impulsive decision making, and for that matter intelligence.
Miles is a very slow thinker who has a 286 processor in a 10GHz world.
Miles is a quality man/person/Father/Husband and a strong recruiter (so far), who carries a poor philosphy into game day, and is hard-headed, and is in a general sense in way over his head.

For starters, he appears to have a verbal syntax aphasia, in which he simply cannot put words together in a very sensible order when speaking. It is quite possible that he expresses himself fairly well on paper, but just cannot do it verbally. In terms of the masters degree, there are a few degree fields that a number of folks not intellectually gifted earn a masters in - particularly those non-thesis masters degrees.

Just because you don't agree with someone does not make them stupid. If you believe that you are the stupid one. That is being closed minded. That is what is wrong with Louisiana, too many closed minded people.
