I don't know if I'd definitely bench him.

I'd sit down with him and discuss the issue with him. If he has an explaination, then I'd make him address the team. The guy is going to be a senior next year. He's going to have to be a leader. Now would be the time to start.

If he doesn't have a good explaination or is unwilling to address the team, then you know that he's a cancer. I'd play him for the bowl game and then give the young guys every chance possible to take the position next year.

No. He is our best lineman, on a very weak line. He is questioning his decision to play so far from his home. I don't think he ever expressed a lack of commitment to the team or desire to play.

Thats exactly whats wrong with things these days. ppl are not held responsible for their actions. He proved with his statement that he has no committment to his teammates or coaches. I will not attack his play because I don't see practice and don't know if his back up is better.

C'mon man..........I refuse to cry for him.

Free education
3 yr. starter
National Championship
probable late 1st round draft pick.....

and on his way out the door, he posts that crap.

I don't care how young or tender or emotional he is. He had damn well grow up fast because the NFL is on his horizon. Time to at least act like a man.

coming to LSU was the biggest mistake of my life.

The fact is his heart isn't here. If it isn't there is no way he can give his best effort and be committed to the team. Therefore he should be bench atleast for the bowl. Then the coaches can evaluate things in the spring and see how it goes.

No. Black is our best lineman. Dworacyzk our second best by default. The other three are just awful.

He should not of posted that, but him not liking it at LSU, he should not be criticized for that...

I think the right thing to do is have his coaches sit down with him and evaluate his issues and try to help the kid feel better about being at school. He took a big leap of coming to BR and also he may think being switched to OLine is not what he had planned. I'm not sure why he ended up on the OLine. He was a DT and he appears to be string an athletic enough to play that position if that is what he is comfortable with.

It seems like a majority of the people in this thread are not familiar at all with the behavior of college athletes. D-1 athletics isn't the military in 1950. Many coaches have heard "frick you" in return from players after a simple command.

and its not guaranteed that its not either. Therefore he should have to prove that this was just a mistake.

i think you do, you're just playing devils advocate on the rant

you can't believe it isn't wrong for high profile college players to go on public forums/networking sites and express negative feelings about their university. whether it is their feelings, or whatever. i know you don't believe that is the right thing to do.

he wouldn't be punished for having the feelings. he wouldn't be punished for being homesick. he would be punished for putting it on twitter. which, LSU has been pretty leniant on to date.

i seriously doubt he is ashamed

he did nothing to be ashamed of

ashamed, embrassed, regretful, humilated, apologetic...they're all synonyms. i'm not arguing the validity of each synonym

not at all

could he have been more tactful? sure

do i get the feeling the team knows how he felt long before this post? definitely

exactly my feelings......peoples likes and dislikes are often beyond their control. How they react to those (posting on FB) is within their control. Mature people who are about to enter the NFL draft and ask organizations to risk millions on them do themselves no good by posting this.
