There are still some rules about this though. Not sure what they are.

Probably easier to 'hold kids back' in early grades to have them be, in essence, a year older than other teams,
Dont the age limits apply to everyone? Seems like a non factor

Well, they tried to play up in class and the state put a stop to that.

And, as I mentioned, it's not really a huge problem here (at least not big enough to make it a separate division from Division I)
DIII and above should just be renamed to the Ohio Catholic Association State Playoffs
DI isn't too bad because most of them get lumped into the same division..

They are allowed to pull out of the area but the kid must sit out one year of varsity competition if he comes from an area not from the district of the local public school

"Recruiting" has gone on for years. Fuzzy Brown used to get players to Istrouma by getting their fathers jobs at Exxon and a house in the district. Prime example- Billy Cannon.

At a public school, you couldn't graduate and take gym for 50% of your classes your senior year (here's looking at you Evangel).
this is a retarded statement.. the same graduation standards apply statewide.. you still have to have the same core classes, no matter where you go..

explain more thoroughly please.
look some of the schools in 5a wanted evangel to drop so they did and they keep winning.
these high school kids arent concerned about playing 5a or 4a like every kid that plays athletic they want to be on a winning program which will improve their chances into getting to a d1 school.
these private/christian schools typically have k-12 programs that establish a program at the junior high level. not much changes in regards to offensive and defense philosophy they just become bigger stronger and more disciplined.
i do believe one advantage that the private schools do have is that they can better discipline their athletes unlike public schools.

of course you can. the public education system (at least in parts of baton rouge you could graduate with that).

Rex as usual you are wrong.
But, I do agree there should be a different class.
My suggestion:
Open Class. This class would be in addition to the 1 a - 5a classes. Any school regardless of size could declare open. In the standard classes 1-5 all boundaries/districts should be strictly enforced and no recruiting. But in open those schools would be allowed to recruit, take kids from any district, give scholarships, etc. However there would have to be a transfer rule similar to D-1 college. Furthermore, in Open each team would be required to play 3 out of state teams ranked in the top 100. Also, should try for a regional tele contract for the open class.
By adding this class the Evangels, JCurtis, West Monroe, South Plaquemine could all play each other. Regardless of public private any team wanting to step up to open could do so regardless of the size of the school.
This is the best way to protect public schools and minor private schools from the football factory schools.

I have heard of some public school students taking one class in a block schedule system and leaving school for the day at 9:30

I was always under the assumption that being held back in 8th grade was why they could get away with that kind of scheduling. Get held back in 8th, but take classes that give you credit for 9th...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this why John David Booty could graduate "a year early"?

Most states split into public and private division. I know Georgia does. It's really the only way to ensure fairness. Two entirely different animals. Louisiana just has a history of underfunding public education (like most of the South) and therefore has a huge number of private schools, ensuring that most people will want to see their alma mater play for a combined state championship.
I went to a private high school and we had kids from 4 parishes on our team. Our rivals recruited from half of the town. Deep down, it really isn't fair.

A lot of kids can graduate a year early if the want to. It is not that hard to accomplish.

shite i went to st pauls in covington and i know people that left after their junior year to graduate at covington high a half semester early. i know for a fact st pauls will not let you graduate early. you cant say some schools place a premium on athletics when its only two. jc and evangel. and its not anything new, its been that way for years.

I did this my senior year at a louisiana public school. One class and out at 10:00.

Without going to summer school, how do you graduate a semester early? I thought you had to have 4 years of english.
How is some schools not Evangel and JC? Now, you also have to throw Calvary into the mix.

point is if private schools can get players to come to thier schools, public schools should too. but that is not going to happen. evangel started in 1a won a state title moved to 2a won another, went to 3a won a couple more then went to 5a won two more left...my bad got kicked out of 5a then got clumped up with john curtis and finally won another. john curtis will always be a factor in 2a but eca is creeping back to the way they use to be.

There are certain credits you need to graduate and depending on how you schedule you can get out of high school early. I don't get why this is so hard to comprehend.

i'm a public school fan and i wouldn't want to see the "Catholic League" split from the rest of the LHSAA. it's not fair to punish all private schools for the sins of 2
