NEW ORLEANS — A person familiar with the decision says running back Reggie Bush and defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis are not traveling with the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Both players are expected to be back at practice next week, said the person, who requested anonymity because the team's injury report had not been officially updated.

Bush and Ellis have knee injuries.

Bush missed practice this week with swelling in his left knee and had been listed Friday as questionable. Ellis, who sprained his right knee in Miami in Week 7, returned to practice this week on a limited basis but also was listed as questionable Friday.

----------------

luckily it is the Bucs this week. I'm all for getting everyone 100% for MNF.

Why? Is there some NFL rule about team travel? As secretive as Payton is about injuries I'd think he'd always travel the whole team just to keep the opponents guessing. It can't save them that much money to leave them at home.

They can do their rehab better at home and get healthy faster.

this, when rest or rehab is the prescription. if it is just avoiding contact/game action then they do travel. as Sharper on the sideleines last week.

its all about the health and longevity of the team from this point on. the decisions they make now directly impact the post season. im more concerned about these diving inzone fumbles and offensive turnovers in general.

ESPN reports on the bottom of the screen during the OSU-UM game that Reggie and Sed are not playing. So this makes sense.

You can't overlook a team like Tampa and say we need our players ready for New England. If we lose only one game this year and so does Minnesota, you better hope it is against New England because they lost to an AFC team. We need to win tomorrow bad.
