Well, his rating's changed.

What HASN'T changed is the fact that he'll bail for Bama the second they offer, if they offer.

I'd be fine with that...doesn't really impress me. I usually don't say negative stuff like this about commits, but this guy is a project and I see better guys out there.

I think he's better than the Ash kid we're still going after, and the Robinson kid from Louisiana that's committed to A&M. But I do agree that he is a project, I just think he has more upside than the two guys I mentioned.

My priority list for trusting evaluation of talent:

1) LSU camps where coaches are allowed to work them out

2) I've personally seen the guy play in HS like Zach Lee or Chancey A. (Ok, I probably am really #1 but wanted to appear humble )

Wait for it....

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

3) Recruiting services whose ratings are questionable many, many times

Josh Booty, Ron Powlus, Xavier Carter, Xavier Lee, Morris Claiborne (will be proven), Jacob Hester and literally thousands of players they have missed on the last couple of decades

Josh booty is not a good reference. He played baseball for a couple of years before coming to lsu and seriously was a beast in high school.

Josh Booty is a superb reference. He was co-player of the year out of HS with Peyton Manning and I thought shouldn't have even been the #1 QB at LSU when he started. I believe it was Booty, Nall, and Rohan Davey, and I thought Rohan Davey was better at QB than Josh Booty ever dreamed of being. And Booty did squat in the NFL, which isn't maybe a gauge of his college career, but IMO he was a major bust up there with Ron Powlus (national player of the year who went to Notre Dame). Of course there are tons other like Todd Marinovich or whatever (Robo QB that everybody hyped up as being so hot and did squat).

What did Rohan do in the NFL?

You do realize that you are calling a first team All-SEC QB a bust, right?

Yes, I remember him making ONE of the All-SEC teams (coaches or writers, I don't think he made both). But even at the time, I thought what in the hell are they thinking! That is why I don't put a lot of stock in All-SEC teams. For example on the coaches' team who in the world can a coach vote for/against a player that he never even saw in a game. Since the SEC doesn't play everybody in the conference, there are 3 teams each year that an SEC coach doesn't even play. Might as well throw a dart against the wall right?

The guy did nothing to impress me with his career at LSU and his brother Abram Booty (WR) I think his name was had a short career with LSU due to a back injury I believe.

All of that drivel and you left off what EVERYONE'S #1 priority should be, FILM. Not highlights, but actual game film. I'll take film over what a guy does at a camp with an under armour shirt and shorts on any day. The guy's a reach AT BEST and pretty much a downright whiff when you look at the guy's LSU passed on to offer him.

So he was first team All-SEC

So what, you're opinion matters nil, he still made first team all SEC

Regardless of whether you like them or not, or agree with how they are chosen, the award is still considered a high honor, and is given to only person at that position each year (ostensibly the top performer).

So what, I don't think anyone cares that you weren't impressed, your personal opinion, which is obviously clouded, doesn't mean shite.

You have not given one solid reason to say that he was an unmitigated bust. Every single argument you made has centered around "I think" or "to me" or "I believe". All of that is conjecture. You even brought his family into this, which has no bearing on the argument at all, but makes me think this is somehow personal for you and led me to make the comment that your opinion is clouded.

In short, you suck at talking about recruiting, and suck even more at making cogent arguments.

My post was not drivel but I do agree that film was SOME value, but not as much as you claimed for the following reasons:

1) Film has some of the same problems as just highlight clips. How good is the team they are playing? How good of condition is the field in (not always obvious? What scheme is each team using? Was the kid ill the week of that game? etc, etc, etc.

2) Second, some players never get on film to any degree. Morris Claiborne for example came from the poor school of Fair Park in Shreveport. It took forever for ESPN to even get highlights of the guy. I later saw the Fair Park coach's explanation...the school doesn't have the money to afford video equipment that many schools have.

Too many variables and not enough inside info. Thanks but no thanks on film being #1 source.

Anyway, I have no problem with the scholarship offer because he has been to an LSU camp. And Selma has the same problem that Fair Park had...a very poor school. I would put your film deal on the list somewhere but not at the top like you would. Coaches get paid the big $ to evaluate talent. And like I said, too many guys have very limited film period due to coming from poor schools with little/no video equipment.

I don't see that happening. DT is not a position of need in this class. Alabama does have a JUCO DT in this class, and if they add another DT, it would be Carlos Gray.

Chavis has coached many NFL linemen, and so has Brick. I trust that what they saw in Blackman was something special otherwise they would not have offered on the spot with Miles consent. By the way, Rohan was an all SEC QB in his 5th year on the LSU team.
