Dining options other than the Darrell's Special? 30-40 bucks a head max.

Pat's of Henderson was pretty good 15 years ago but I haven't been lately.

Mazen's is excellent, IMO. Loved eating there when I lived closer.

If yall want seafood Steamboat Bill's is pretty legit too, but you won't be blown away. It is casual and will be under 40 a head though

Some friends from Dallas are coming in for the Allman Bros/WP show this weekend in Houston and want to go to the casino on Sunday, I guess they expect me to wow them with Cajun country cooking and culture.
I'll pay someone like a 100 bucks to get all dressed up and wrestle a stuffed gator or something while laying down some made up Cajun folksy wisdom on them.
They went to all OU/SMU/UTexas so they don't really know anything about Louisiana.

I usually wear khakis, but you'll be fine in jeans.

I'll wrestle a real one for $100.

Done. I'm an ordained minister of 3 years now, been looking for my first inter-species marriage.

I have but one request, my 1st wife is on the short side...let's make No. 2 seven feet or taller...er...longer ...that's my only request...demeanor isn't an issue...I'm used to a pissy attitude. Let's get it on!

Totally agree with Pujo Street and Mama Rosa's. I grew up in LC but pretty much had not been back for years and years until recently. Now I am there 2-3 times a year. But hardly any place I remember going back in the day is still there.
We went to Pujo Street on a friend's recommendation last December and we were very impressed.
Last time we were in LC, we stumbled upon Mama Rosa's kind of late at night and decided to try it because it was late-ish, the place was open, and we were hungry. Got a very good meal, and the owner chatted us up. We were the last people in the place. I always feel bad when that happens, and the service was very good, so we left a huge tip. I think we both had gnocchi, which I love and which I never find in BR. Very tasty.
I had dinner at Steamboat Bill's this summer too. Good seafood.

Where did you end up going? Result?

Didn't, was too exhausted after the Allman Bros/Panic show. But I think my lady friend wants to go to LDL soon to blow some of my money, so I'll have a report on wherever we end up.

Bitches be crazy. If you're wanting to spend some money, go to La Truffe Sauvage

That lamb looks quite nice. I'll be sure to mention this place to her. She enjoys learning to cooking and eating/drinking/dining, but just doesn't get into it like I do, but I'm working on that.
