I'd be all for it only on one condition...we STOP running the option all together..especially to the short side of the field...

Plus, without QB protection and JJ's lack of an arm, we completely eliminate any type of deep passing game. That makes it so much easier to key in on the run and shut us down.

please explain why the coaches limit the playcalling to the same basic 10 plays per game.

my only guess is because the florida coaches were playing conservative and the game was close...LSU coaches didnt feel the need to "take shots" down the field. I guess they were content to only be down by a touchdown.

The best thing for LSU would have been for florida to really start scoring, causing a "shoot out" type game. Force the LSU coaches to take shots down field.

Either way, i think if we are taking shots down field all game (fade and go routes), we get at least 1 score out of it.

jj had plenty of opportunities to throw it downfield. Instead of taking a chance, he took a sack. High school teams have more of a verticle threat than us. Bring on JL

No, JL should not start.

But I think LSU could start JJ and put JL in for a series or two to mix things up.

that is the sadest part. we are wasting these great receivers. Lafell would have had so many touchdown catches with LEE. At times Lee looked amazing. JJ has never even looked somewhat good this year.

i feel like we've called the same 10 plays all year. if it's not a run or an option it's either a 5-10 yard pass or the rare 50 yard bomb that if picked is essentially a punt. they don't call any plays that really allow jefferson to throw those 15-30 yard passes, and i have to believe that it's because they have no confidence that he can make the throw.

I guess you would be the guy laughing at the prospect of a Matt Flynn, or Matt Mauk starting for the Tigers. Oh wait, those two quarterbacks and game managers just went out and put the ball in the hands of talent and won championships. So laugh all you want. I believe JL could have managed 3 points last night.

I defended Lee last year throughout the entire season and would do it again.

Lee is the only qb we have who has faced an entire season of SEC defenses. He was put in a bad situation last year and wasn't ready and showed why you generally don't start freshman as qb's full time. He's had a year to recover, he learned a lot, never did quit on us (see Troy St.), and as I said, faced SEC defenses all year. You can't buy experience, it can't be given to you, it has to be well, earned.

Right now we have a shot at winning the West. This team can beat Bama and Auburn and Ole Miss and Arkansas. Do you trust the guy who has seen these defenses before, can look at the film and appreciate his experiences with them before or the rookie who is still learning? JJ has talent, he has to learn at some point, and will be a good qb, but right now we have a real shot at the SEC West.

Not saying remove JJ, just throwing this out there as food for thought.

Lee brought us back from a deficit against FLorida early in the third quarter before he started making freshman mistakes that got us killed.

I think the coaches should have put lee out there for a series last night to change some stuff up.

But they did not, and they are smarter than I when it comes to football.

You do realize Florida was playing prevent at the end of the game and giving LSU the 5-10 yard route?

THIS.

When it counts JJ won't pull the trigger. I gave JJ the benefit of the doubt on the Scott run last week.

JJ looks confused from the time he starts looking at the sideline for the play, until he picks himself up off the ground from the sack.

Repeat Twice.

Punt.

Matt Stafford #1 overall pick!
YEAR TEAM CMP ATT PCT YDS AVG TD LNG INT RAT

2007 UGA 194 348 55.7 2523 7.3 19 84 10 128.92
2008 UGA 235 383 61.4 3459 9.0 25 78 10 153.54

Jarrett Lee
YEAR CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT
2008 143 269 1873 53.2 6.96 66 13 16 8 115.70

Playing Qb in the SEC is not all that easy and requires time. If Lee was given the opportunity to progress and prepare to be a starting qb he may surprise a lot of people. He went into his freshman year preparing to be a 3rd string qb and was thrown into the starting role on a time with no defense at all. He has only been playing qb since his junior year in high school, that's 5 years! Give the kid a chance! I haven't given up on Jefferson or Lee but I think its safe to say neither one was ready to start. Maybe Lee has matured?? Maybe LSU needs to Hire a QB coach???? Something needs to change and giving Lee a chance is not a bad idea.

about time someone started talking some sense. Peyton Mannning had it rough his first year at Tennessee. For most qb's, it takes a while for the light bulb to come on.

this is insanity. JJ takes sacks, but he doesnt throw many INTs. With no running game and little time to throw, there is no reason to put Lee in there.
