"5" consecutive offensive plays called and ready to run at any point and time in the game. fast tempo and everyone on the same page. probable, but unlikely and it would be great to not see our QB not looking to the sidelines and all 11 kids on that "O" ready, on the same page and do it like in repetition, as if they have been doing it from day one with no glitches. "i know, i'm dreaming!"

We need to take what the defense gives us. We ran the ball better as the UGA defense dropped in coverage. We made them pay by rushing for almost 200, minus the sacks. I say Florida will do the same, but blitz more. I would like to see a lot of screens and draws to open the Defense up and hit them with the long ball. We should have a height advantage again this week.

1. Jefferson attacking the edge on the option inside of stringing things out. He should go watch tape of that Notre Dame QB in the late 80s (Tony Rice?). Best technical running of the option I have seen at the QB spot (of course, the '95 Nebraska team ran the option as a whole better than anyone--Rice was just phenomenal at attack the end, getting commitment from the defense and then pitching it.

he said realistically. JJ will probably never be as adept as Tony Rice was on the option (just a thing of beauty), let alone in a week.

being against FL....
you can't re-invent the wheel at this point.

concentrate on what we do well...
...do more of that..

minimize what we do not do well....

fine tune that which have done well and bad.

and WE MUST HAVE PRESSURE FROM THE DL

JJ not a good option QB, almost rather RS run it despite it maybe being more predictable. Keep running to the left. Think Spikes will blitz alot, so slant over middle might be open

Shepard has 2 fumbles if I'm not mistaken. One against Vandy and one from this past weekend. FWIW, Chuck has just as many.

Yeah, he ran the option pretty bad, telegraphed his pitches and ran too shallow.

1) Keep Alem from charging forward every play, Florida is going to be running alot of dump passes, and alem blows by the run and the dump pass all the time.
2) Give JJ a little more time, i believe JJ is a pretty good pocket QB if given time
3) mix up the plays, like at Georgia. Spread out the D, then run the ball.

SHEP did not fumble last week. The ground caused the fumble. He was ruled down.

1 fumble; against Vandy on a slant where he got popped. Not saying that's an excuse, but I was just responding because the poster made it sound like Shep's turnovers are a huge cause for concern.

They aren't. At all.

I like the simple zone read play but your right throw the "speed option" out of the playbook

Shep needs to learn the play book

He also needs to gain weight and get stronger. He's gotten slammed around a few times already. I think he may have a slight ball security issue right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong...did not see Shep after he was drilled and lost the football (fortunately, it was not a turnover). I hope he was not injured. That hit did look nasty!

I'd love to see the offense run out of this formation:

....80..X.X.C.X.X.18
..................................1
................9
............8......32

Of course you can substitute 9 & 10; 8 & 5; 1 or 80 & 2

Defense then has to guard against option, power run off tackle, sweep, drop back pass or screen.

Shep put the ball on the ground in the Vandy game in the redzone and also put it on the ground last weekend against UGA in the redzone.

Agreed, but we telegraph the run when we go from 5 wide to I-formation.

Run for the spread maybe?
