Overrated until proven otherwise: LSU and Ole Miss are both overrated. There’s no other way to say it. The difference between the two teams is that LSU is overrated and still unbeaten. Ole Miss is overrated and coming off a loss in its SEC opener. LSU coach Les Miles called the Tigers “vulnerable” following their 30-26 escape at Mississippi State, and he’s right. I’d go as far as to say they’re very beatable unless they find their running game and start playing with more consistency in all areas.

All true and all the fault of the media.

Afterall...you can't be OVER RATED unless you're being rated. The media wouldn't be happy unless they were doing Top 20 polls after the season, during the spring, preseason, etc. LSU is ranked where they are BECAUSE of the press' desire to create these stupid fricking polls'.

Honestly at this point of the season, there seems to be three dominant teams (Florida, BAMA and Texas) and everyone else. LSU is in the everyone else catagory right now, but their potential and the fact that they have clearly not played anywhere near their potential gives them tons of room for improvement. They are ranked #4 right now because the press knows no other way of ranking teams than to rank them in preseason and basically automatically move teams up if they don;t lose and others lose in front of them.

Listening to memebers of the press bitch about their own system is kinda' funny...

Nah, Miss State is not good. Auburn ran for 400 yards against them. We had 30 yards on 31 attempts. Biggest red flag I have seen in a long time.

The final score was 49-24.

However, our offense only scored 42 of the points and State's offense only scored 17 of their points.

We had a pick six and they had a blocked punt return.

We outgained State with 589 yards of offense; while holding them to 297 yards.

Yeah. Can't argue too much with that POV right now until the Tigers show what they can do against the upcomming higher level competition.

But, of course when you say this:

You could be talking about just about any team in the country right now. Florida was the notable exception but with Tebow's concussion even they are in doubt (and heck, they lost a game last year if I remember right). Bama is a nice and shiny football team that looks impressive. But I definitely wouldn't say they're unbeatable. Saban can drop one when you don't quite expect it. And there a a coupld of teams in the Big 12 that can jump up and hand Texas a lost.

I'm waiting on someone from ESPN to say we have national title written all over us. We are, after all, ranked such a meaningful 4th in the country.

This is why AU should be rated higher than LSU!!!!

Give me a team that would not be overrated in that spot at this point? How comfortable is anyone with Auburn, Houston, USC, Boise State, or Oklahoma in that spot?

Very good point here.

Its still early folks. I'll admit we are not playing top 5 football right now.

Teams do mature as the season progresses.

Georgia will give us a good test and if we come away with a win we deserve our ranking.

AU beat WV and MissSt (with ease). Houston beat OkState and TT. Boise beat Oregon. USC beat OhioState. OK hasnt beat anyone yet, but is beating up on creampuffs at least. All those wins are at least as impressive as any of LSU's.
