Confirms everyone's biggest fears from last night.

Without any camp performances:
Bates probably wouldn't have a LSU offer,
Fordham would be a 2 star without a LSU offer,
Mathieu would be a 2-3 star without a LSU offer,
Porter would be a 3 star and might not have an offer,
And Trevon Reed would be an athlete instead of a sure handed WR.

There are lots of times where camps matter more than recognition and accomplishments received before, during, or after one's junior season.

What I read is that Blackmon reminded him of Dorsey. Didn't say his play, his stance, his appearance, etc. Since we offered, I take it to mean his play. That being said, LSU pays Miles a lot of money for his expertise in selecting and developing players that represent the school with good play, character and class. And I think he does an incredible job at this.

The last few years I've really enjoyed cheering for the Tigers, and not have to apologize for having guys who while they play well on the field are idiots off.

this makes sense.

"hey you remind me of Glenn Dorsey. want to play football here?"

"ugh, YES!"

Seems to me that he is quick off the snap is the key comparison to Dorsey. That is something Every great LSU DT over the last 15 years (minus maybe Booger) has had.

Agreed. I would rather the coaches work these kids out and make their judgements then rely solely on tapes. For one the level of competition plays a huge factor when evaluating these kids. Ex: Bryce Brown had a highlight reel that was second to none. Yet he was playing Kansas HSFB. I am not sold on the fact he was the number 1 back. Michael Ford's level of competition wasn't the greatest but considerably better than Brown's. All these recruits come in raw by college standards. So you get a smart kid that works hard. The son of a couch with lots of athletisism and size. Thats about all you can want in a recruit. They will make him a football player. You can bet your arse on it. LSU with limited slots available and only 1 spot for a DT, won't take a scrub we take DORSEY'S BABY

I like the fact that he has gained 12 lbs in such a short time. That tells me that while he plays end right now, he can gain weight easily on his frame and, coupled with a good jump, could be a hell of a DT.

Please tell me you saw Bryce's AA Game? I don't know for a fact whether I would have had him as the #1 overall guy in the country, but don't even begin to use the 'weak Kansas football' excuse/argument.

Not all of them--the elite guys can step right in and play from day 1.

Brown looked amazing because of the rules of the game. No zone allowed forced the defense to cover him 1 on 1 with a linebacker. Then they just called fly routes for him. He should win that battle 10 out of 10 times.

You think any linebacker could cover Shep on a fly route?

it seems he went to Alabama's camp on sunday and monday and was in serious consideration for a scholarship, according to his head coach. On a whim, they came here to camp on Tues and Wenesday, and we got him,

I really don't typically--you are correct there, sir.

Bryce, however, had a great week of practice to go along with the best performance in the actual game.

He has the film to back him up as well.

Do I think he will be the #1 player to come out of that class--hell no. RBs are a "Dime a dozen" and I don't see him as an Adrian Peterson type (one of the only backs ever who could legitimately have been #1 in his class and really earned it at RB).

Barkley was the #1 guy talent wise from last year's class. I don't really have any doubts there--even if his stats weren't great his senior year, he is, in my mind, the best prospect from last year.

I would probably have Randle at #2 and Bryce Brown in the 5-10 range.

Who are you? What do you do? And why are you calling recruits whose number you "came across"?
