doesn't have offers from the two schools in Alabama?

I heard its a numbers thing... but everyone on Bama boards think theyre making a mistake and that hes a good one. We may lose him in the long run IMO if Bama offers.

I believe he lived in Florida before moving to Prattville last year, so they'd never had chance to get him to camp. Bama is understandable bc they are putting together a great DB class. Auburn though should have offered him for sure. LSU simply did a better job recruiting him than the other schools. Had Auburn gotten him to camp like LSU did, I would bet he would have earned an Auburn offer.
Either way, don't be shocked if he becomes a 4* in Rivals' rankings this week. At work, he'll be a high 3*.

Because we evaluated him and thought he was worthy of an offer, whereas auburn and alabama either evaluated him and did not think he was worthy of an offer or did not evaluate him properly...
Auburn screwed up because they need him. Bama had him as a maybe offer and i think saban was caught off guard when lsu offered. They were going to get him to a camp and take a look at him in person before offering, much like we do with "borderline" Louisiana prospects like curtis carter, elliot porter, who aren't extended offers immediately so that the coaches can see them in camp and in person. This is a calculated risk that state schools sometimes take on in-state prospects when they feel that the prospect is a big lean and will wait on an offer instead of committing to an out of state school. It's sort of like a reverse Darrington Sentimore from last year.
Just a case of us going out on a limb and extending an offer before those two schools were willing to. we didn't "steal" him from either program, but may have done a more efficient job of evaluating his potential. Only time will tell that.

He seemed really positive about LSU when he committed, and he essentially chose to spend time at LSU's camp rather than at Bama. Additionally, Bama has a lot of defensive backs in their class already so I doubt they will offer him since they are already finishing out their class as well.

His coach in Prattville said that he asked Sam, last November, where he wanted to go , and Sam said it was and has always been LSU. Coach said once LSU offered he knew it was over, he knew Sam would commit on the spot.

Gibson sort of snubbed both of them by not camping there after he went to LSU's camp, got an offer and committed. Had he gone to their camps, he probably would have gotten an offer from both. I wouldnt be surprised at all if he got offers from them once the season starts.

I am pretty sure he will be Mr Football in Alabama next year.

Bama was just late and will prolly take a shot before NSD if they have room for him. I gave up trying t0 understand AU recruiting when they passed on Phelon Jones a few months back.
I can't wait to see who the heck AU signs this year for their OL. Whoever it is will prolly start next year, lol. They are lean.

I don't think he's wavering. He said in a couple of interviews how solid he is to LSU, and he's been to BR like 3 times since he committed. All on his own dime.

I dont think he is right now.... we will see. Long time till NSD

Exactly, which to avoid the bigs in Bama is also a quick way to get a ratings drop on the recruiting sites as well. He's a stud and best athlete on the best team in Bama is all you need to know

Miles and his staff are good at finding hidden talent.
Posted on 7/19/09 at 8:48 pm to Bad Cat
in this case hidden in plain sight

Here's the reasons why per everyone's favorite flamer Rivals poster bamalover09.....

He used to post here. I'm not sure if he's LuckyLee or not. I forgot his original name here though.

2. Sam Gibson wasn't offered by Bama or Auburn, that (like Josh Williford) should tell you something. Its pretty obvious Miles just wants to take a kid from Alabama every year. The last 2 seasons have shown that. He can't compete to take a player we really want, but he'll bring in someone.
quote:
Robby Green had legit offers from Arizona State, Penn State, Ole Miss and Bama. There are also a ton of rumors he had an offer from LSU. Regardless, its neither here nor there, he had offers from other very solid schools. Gibson? UAB? South Al? Green is a little different than Gibson.
Gibson has been dubbed as more of a "camp guy". Guys who have seen him play say he is not very physical and doesn't like contact..that doesn't bode well for a safety. (This was taken from an Auburn board btw early in the season). Not to mention...arguably the best DB coach in America passed on him (Saban) and a very good former DC/secondary coach passed on him as well (Chizik). This guy is an in-state player - to me this says it all.

quote:
not to get in a big flame war...but Miles has not exactly shown to be a "guru" in OL recruiting under his tenure at LSU.
quote:
I'd say in a year where we are taking 6-7 DBs and the kid doesn't even get a SNIFF from Saban, that should tell you a little something. Couple that with the fact that Chizik didn't even give him a sniff either and their safety situation blows. Both coaches are very good in the secondary especially Saban.
quote:
1. We had 1 safety committed and that was Gibson's teammate (the real safety) Perry. Saban had ample time to see him and evaluate him...we aren't like Miles we do not wait to camps to offer in-state players. Jarrick Williams just committed, and we will probably take another safety to make 3. Bad reasoning.
2. Weight has absolutely nothing to do with physical play. Take Perry Riley, guy is built like a truck but one of the least physical LBers in the SEC...pathetic.
3. I love the constant Robby Green shots...for a kid that was said he would never play, it must really be eating you guys up that he is a starter as a true sophomore. Somebody wake me up when Rockey Duplesis ever touches the field...laugh Or John Williams...oops, I mean Ryan St. Julien sees the turf. Great decisions...

he was like public enemy #1 on here or some shite back in the days when he was bragging to everyone that he got to sit at a table next to Dmitch at Cerranoes. He told me Pkit was supposed to go but bailed.

I knew that from way back when. Just couldn't remember what exactly his name was here. all I was saying was that it wouldn't surprise me if he were back under another name.
